  • Bowler is invited to the town of Hard Rock by a former friend Lenore. Brisco and Bowler learn that a former criminal Roy Hondo has set up a protection racket and Lenore is the only one not paying. So Brisco and Bowler must close him down.moreless

A very entertaining episode with a Elvis Presley sheriff named Sheriff Aaron Vila which becomes a theme during the episode. A lot of references to Elvis songs and situations. Lenore has invented the Hamburger, but she wants to call it The Cow Pie because it looks a little like a pie and the beef comes from a cow!?! Also Brisco and the sheriff discuss the possibilities of the drive thru food pickup window.

Besides the fun we get introduced to Whip Morgan played by Jeff Phillips who is the son of Hondo. He has been chasing Roy his father ever since he saw him gun down his brother (Whip's Uncle) who was raising him.

Basically Brisco, Bowler, the sheriff, and Whip finally get together to deal with the dastardly villains.

A much better episode than the last two and a return to the tongue in cheek fun this show is known for. We also get to learn a lot of Lord Bowler that we didn't know before. Lots of fun and action. Great episode! Thanks for reading...moreless
  • Bowler takes Brisco to Hard Rock to help protect old flame Lenore, who is being targeted by a protection racketeer out of reach of the law. They team up with an Elvis-like Sheriff and hot-headed youth as they try to stop the racket. An enjoyable episode..moreless

    9.1
After the surprise revelations and sci-fi themes of the previous episode, 'Fountain of Youth', here we return to a more average, straight forward Western fare. Well, 'average' by 'Brisco County Jr.'s standards at least!

I couldn't quite make up my mind about Aaron Viva, the Elvis Presley-like Sheriff. In some scenes I found him amusing; in others I found him a bit distracting.

Bowler and Brisco (Socrates does not appear in this episode) set about putting an end to Hondo's crooked protection racket, and we also learn some more about Bowler's background and past – and that his real name is James Lonefeather.

I found this to be an enjoyable episode. I'm not sure I'd quite rank it as a classic example of the series, but even so it does offer up some memorable guest characters.moreless
