  • An exciting episode full of action and danger. An exact reaspon why i watch this show.

An amazing episode where libby and cindy discover a space meteor containing astro-rubies which i thought made them look quite different. This is the first time i've seen the gang be so greedy over money. Nothing is more funnier though when sheen acts all dumb about the universe. Also i've noticed that whenever the gang go out on a trip;carl is always the one who looks out for everyone because in this adventure Carl cooks for everyone (although sheen hated the taste of his home-made burritos. This is a very special episode.( end review ). . . . . . .moreless
  • Cindy and Libby stumble upon Aster-rubies and Jimmy informs them of their true value. The 3 of them and Carl and Sheen travel to retrieve more to obtain great wealth. Until the space bandits come to steal them.moreless

This episode is one of my favorites. I like how it shows the message that humans will be always at the mercy of greed. Beautiful Mine was funny too. I especially liked that Carl kept shouting 'Ruby madness'. Also I liked that they had to sacrifice their rubies in the end, and therefore they wouldn't become corrupt.

But I don't understand why Jimmy didn't put any weapons on that rocket. Or how his parents didn't suspect anything when the bus started flying. Overall I really enjoyed this episode.moreless
  • space aliens and greed.

This was a great episode, It was really funny, Jimmy and Cindy fighting as always, this episode had a important lession, Greed will inpower us all, it just shows people who are the best of friends can turn on each other at the drop of a dime or in this episodes case a rupee.
  • My first Jimmy Neutron episode.

A Beautiful Mine is the first episode of Jimmy Neutron I’ve ever seen. I honestly wasn’t expecting much. I found out I had Nicktoons and this was currently on.

The characters seem to compliment each other well, each one slightly different but still share a common goal in this episode. An asteroid lands on earth, containing Aster-rubies. The gang sets out to find the source of the rubies and to become rich. They find the asteroid that has the rubies on it and start mining. Before long, some Alien Bandits show up and try to steal the rubies from the gang. They are defeated and retreat for now.

Before the bandits leave, they warn them of Ruby-fever. Ruby-fever is what happens when you get too greedy with the rubies. It strikes the gang and they start turning on each other. Eventually they need to leave the planet quickly. They pile up as many rubies as they can and head home. The bandits attack from in space but fail once again. Unfortunately Jimmy’s ship drifts too close to Jupiter and its gravitational pull starts to suck them in. There only way to get out is to use the rubies to boost the ship’s rockets enough to pull free. They make it back safe but without any rubies to show for themselves. A lesson learned, indeed.

This being my first impression of Jimmy Neutron, I found it rather silly. It had some humorous moments, such as the Bandit’s dialogue and the whole Burrito bit. Also, the fact that they were in space and wore no suits or helmets was rather odd, but it is a cartoon. The characters were funny, my favorite being Goddard. He has a major case of A.D.D. All and all it’s a decent episode and next time I see the show is on, I’ll probably check it out.moreless
  • Ahhh aliens!

I find that this episode to be very entertaining. It gives an overbearing image of what aliens from the show would do for a lifestyle. Even if they are criminals. But hey, that's their life. Good episode that turned my attention to the spotlight of Jimmy Neutron. I find that Tee is the best of the aliens, Zix and Travoltron were good too.

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (11)

  • QUOTES (10)

  • NOTES (4)

    • This episode is actually in season 2 because Libby's hair is different.

    • This episode can be seen on the DVD Attack of the Twonkies.

    • From now on, Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius episodes air at 9:00 PM in Friday Night Nicktoons.

    • Chip, the "camp counselor," is voiced by the same person (Rob Paulsen) who does Mark the alien's voice from Fairly OddParents, complete with his surfer dude accent. Coincidentally, the premiere of this episode was just after a new Fairly OddParents episode which stared Mark, "So Totally Spaced Out".

  • ALLUSIONS (13)

    • A Beautiful Mine: Plot

This episode is a spoof of The Treasure of Sierra Madre

    • Strange Rock Formation: Appearance

The "strange rock formation" where Sheen hides his rocks looks exactly like Jimmy's head

    • Barbarino: Speech

      Barbarino talks like Christopher Walken

    • A Beautiful Mine: Title

This is probably a reference to the movie "A Beautiful Mind" from "A biopic of the meteoric rise of John Forbes Nash Jr., a math prodigy able to solve problems that baffled the greatest of minds. And how he overcame years of suffering through schizophrenia to win the Nobel Prize. "

    • Cindy: What!? I'm thinking!

When the Jimbus is being drawn in to Jupiter, and Jimmy needs to use the the asterrubies for fuel to save everyone, Cindy protests. Jimmy tells her, "It's your rubies or your life." Cindy pauses, saying that she's thinking. This refers to a classic Jack Benny routine - he used same phrase when confronted by a robber. This was a regular routine for Benny and cropped up in both his show and stand-up comedy routines.

    • Alien: Approach

The scene where Jimmy and the gang saw the aliens was a parody of Goat Boy.

    • Zia: "Yeah, that's it! We're asteroid inspectors!" and "I've seen it happen dozens, no hundreds ... thousands of times."

Zia, the alien leader, seems to be doing Jon Lovitz's "Pathological Liar" schtick.

    • Barbarino: Alien's Name

Barbarino is a tribute to John Travolta's famous role on Welcome Back, Kotter (Vinnie Barbarino).

    • Tee: I pity that dog! Hush your mouth, fool!

One of the space bandits talks like Mr. T of The A-Team, with the deep voice and using the words "pity" and "fool." The alien being named Tee naturally comes from the character he parodies.

    • Sheen: Uh, Libby, I don't think they need no stinkin' badges.
From the famous quote: "Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges." This quote comes from the movie The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, which has a similar plot to this episode. The phrasing of the line could actually refer to the possibly Sierra Madre-alluding line from Blazing Saddles, "We don't need no stinking badges."

    • Visual: Camp Bus

The bus that Jimmy supposedly takes to camp was based on the Partridge Family's tour bus - it even has the "Caution - Nervous Mother Driving" sign!

    • Visual: Ship approaching the asteroid.

The scene where Jimmy's ship approaches the asteroid is directly taken off of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. Another Star Wars visual reference comes when Jimmy's ship is being chased by the three aliens.

    • Visual: Jimmy's Ruby Dance

When Jimmy sees the real aster-rubies, the dance he does is spoofed from Billy Crystal's dance in the movie City Slickers 2, when they're looking for gold.
