  • Okay, this has to be the only begging episode that had to be average

    7.8
Jimmy on ice- The town attacked him. Why do they attack him? They forsed him to make it snow!

Battle of the band- Jimmy lost (Of course!).

So end of another bad episode! Why? Why Jimmy? Many episodes are bad. But, this show's good. . . . . . Maybe. . . . . .If they're good. . . . . . . Uh.... UltraLord is stuck on the planet of increast sun! NOOOOOO! Hey guys, if you want to cool off get a drink, like I do! Sigh, well, this is the end of the review. Good bye. You still reading? Stop.moreless
  • Battle of the Band, a bit unrealistic.

    7.0
I think that Battle of the Band is bit off the wall. First of all, if Jimmy,Carl, and Sheen never played insruments before, how can they play not only perfect notes all the time, how can they be in perfect harmony? They just so happen to think 3 harmonious melodies that sound great togther? If only that could happen in real life? If that happened after practicing for a while, that would be fine, but to do that on the first try, come on. And where does Carl get that agent from? Besides that the episode was pretty good overall.moreless
  • Both quite good episodes.

    8.8
I enjoyed both the episodes, but particularly the one about Jimmy freezing over the town. It was so funny when he had to collect the sweatiest people in the entire town to use defrost the town. But if the bacteria on their feet had reacted with the sweat, I doubt that the stench would be rid from the town for several months!

Battle of the Bands was also very funny, especially when Jimmy, Carl and Sheen got into fights and destroyed all their instruments. I liked Carl when he went to get a publicist and everything, that was so strange and funny.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (11)

    • Carl is seen inside the school with the rest of the kids when Jimmy leaves. Jimmy later finds Carl inside his igloo. How could Carl possibly gotten there before Jimmy.

    • When Jimmy was going to spray the sweat to disolve the sunscreen, if you look closely, you'll see SUNLIGHT, and Jimmy didn't even touch the spray.

    • There are two posters of guys on Cindy's bedroom wall: one of Morten and one of Lindsey. They are from the band on the poster in Lindbergh's cafeteria, Outta Sync.

    • Cindy was frozen into her pool, No one could survive if they were frozen.

    • If it was really that cold, the kids wouldn't have come to school in the first place, even then, shouldn't they have worn even a jacket? Everyone was wearing their normal clothes!

    • After they showed what Jimmy was thinking, he said "Mind Blast!" instead of "Brain Blast!"

    • The warning on Carl's SPF 50 says that quantumly enhancing the sunblock will cause a second ice age, but geologists claim that there have already been five major ice ages.

    • When Cindy is in her pool, complaining about Jimmy changing the weather, there is no snow accumulation around her pool. However, there's plenty of snow on the ground everywhere else in Retroville.

    • Jimmy and Sheen's guitars don't have straps, but whenever they let go of them, the guitars stay in place.

    • When Jimmy looks out his window and says, "I may have made a tiny miscalculation!" his house is snowed in. But when Hugh goes out to hunt caribou, the front path is clear for him.

    • When everyone's yelling at Jimmy at school in "Jimmy On Ice," you can hear Libby, but she's not there. This goof repeats itself when everyone's cheering at the end.

  • QUOTES (13)

    • (while searching for food)
Hugh: (confuses Jimmy sillouette with the form of an animal) Look! I think it's a buck! Maybe a buck fifty!!!

    • Judy: Sweetie, eat your caribou before it gets hard and icy.

    • Jimmy: If it weren't for me you'd be blowin' nose bubbles and spittin' water!

    • Jimmy: Wait a minute... Sheen, Carl! What are we doing?
Sheen: Well, I was about to strangle Carl.
Carl: Yeah, and I was about to slap Sheen on the back of the head.

    • (Discussing the name of the band)
Carl: I have a name! And it's really great.
Sheen: Does it have the word "llama" in it?
      Carl: NO! (gets quiet) Yes.

    • Carl: I wrote a love song....
      Jimmy: Is it about llamas?!
      Carl: NO! (gets quiet) Yes.

    • Jimmy: Goddard, what's the temperature? (Goddard's screen displays "-30°") Minus thirty?! Oh no! (looks out the window to see that the entire town is buried in snow) I may have made a tiny miscalculation....

    • Sheen: Oh, man! Did they ever make a mistake! With our power chords and phat beats, they're gonna wish they never-I mean ... hey, wait a minute! We don't have a rock band!
Carl: Yeah, we don't even play any instruments.
Sheen: Or have any discernable abilities.

    • Sheen: Hey! Hey! What is this? I specifically requested dolphin-safe donuts! I refuse to perform until all of my ridiculous demands are satisfied!

    • Sheen: I want a documentary tracing my amazing rise to fame while revealing several humiliating skeletons in my closet!

    • Judy: Oh that was good, but I think Jimmy and his friends will be even better.
Hugh: They better be. I paid a hundred and twenty-five bucks for these tickets!
Judy: Hugh, this is a free school function.
      Hugh: Oohhhh! Darn scalpers!

    • Judy: J-j-j-james Isaac N-n-n-neutron! Haven't we warned you about tampering with the unstable structure of a chaotic system?!
Hugh: We'll just have to learn to adapt to this hostile, savage environment. (grabs a spear) I better run! Me and the other dads are off to hunt caribou! Spotted a big herd up on Abner Boulevard, gotta keep fresh meat on the table, buh-bye!

    • Hugh: Ooh. The intense UV radiation has made me delusional. I am a monkey!

  • NOTES (4)

    • There is a Jimmy Neutron book called "Battle of the Bands" which has a totally different ending than this episode. In the episode, Jimmy, Sheen and Carl finish last; in the book they finish tied for first with Cindy and Libby. Besides the ending, the other major difference is that the dream sequence where Libby and Cindy are rocking out to Jimmy, Carl and Sheen actually happens in the book.

    • This episode can be seen on the DVD Confusion Fusion.

    • When this episode first aired, "Battle of the Band" came before "Jimmy On Ice." For future airings, the order was reversed.

    • This was originally scheduled for September 27th, 2002, but they replaced it with "Raise the Oozy Scab / I Dream of Jimmy," so it was moved to October 4th, 2002.

  • ALLUSIONS (12)

    • The Neutronic Synchronous Mind Instruments are similar to the way kids 'learn' to play instruments in The Music Man (a musical}. The kids are told to think the note, and they will play it. The difference is that in this episode, the boys play perfectly, and in the Music Man, the kids are horrible.

    • Opening Music: Jimmy on Ice

The opening title music is simalir to the Opening title music of the reality game show Survivor.

    • Carl: I think we should all wear make-up.

This is a reference to the band Kiss. They would always wear make-up when they performed.

    • Rock-Star Carl: Appearance

Carl with the bowl cut and British accent is a reference to Ringo Star and Paul McCartney, two of the Beatles.

    • Cindy: We're doing Riverstomp.

Riverstomp is obviously a spoof on Riverdance. Also, the music that is playing when Cindy and Libby and Riverstomping sounds similar to that of "Reel Around the Sun".

    • Music: "Eye of the Tiger"

Ironically, the song "Eye of the Tiger" was playing in the backround when Cindy says, "You are the greatest. Eye of the tiger."

    • Music: "Maniac"

The music that plays in the background when Carl starts to sweat is "Maniac" from the 1983 film Flashdance.

    • Title: "Battle of the Band"

The font of the title is the same as that of the Beatles logo, and the stem of the second "t" on "Battle" extends below the other letters, another Beatles trademark.

    • Llama Lords of Science: Music

The song that the Llama Lords of Science play sounds similar to "Warning," performed by Green Day.

    • Poster: Outta Sync

Outta Sync is a spoof on *NSYNC.

    • Jimmy: What about the Jimmy Neutron Experience?
Carl: Yeah. I kinda like The Carl Wheezer Project!

The Jimmy Neutron Experience spoofs The Jimi Hendrix Experience. The Carl Wheezer Project is a spoof of The Alan Parsons Project.

    • Sheen: I will now be known as "Artist Formerly Known As Sheen,"

When in the classroom, Sheen was pretending to be Prince (The Artist Formerly Known As Sheen/The Artist Formerly Known As Prince).
