A J/C fest!

It seems that like “Stranded,” this episode was intended solely for the benefit of all the J/C romance fans out there. So there’s a bit of an energy source on Mars, and it’s capable of destroying Earth, Eustace is trying to destroy the gang, and they all could be marooned on Mars…yadda…yadda…yadda. So what! The focus of this episode is Jimmy and Cindy’s relationship and Cindy appears to be turning up the heat. She’s decided to unleash her feminine charms and go after Jimmy where he is clearly most vulnerable, his kind and selfless heart. A quality she obviously saw in him while on the island adventure some time earlier. She wants the fun romantic Jimmy to come to the surface rather than have him masks it with more scientific rhetoric. Her persistence is endearing since, as we all know, girls definitely have a very clear concept as to what kind of male counterpart suites them best and yes, even at a very young age. In this case Cindy’s objective is clear, Jimmy is the object of her desire and she’s coming after him with a staggering arsenal of feminine tricks and persuasion. Again, Jimmy’s lack of experience with the opposite sex forces him to bumble along not really knowing what’s happening or why. Cindy knows that ultimately she will prevail; Jimmy really doesn’t have a chance after all (guys seldom do). However, she’s hoping for more immediate results from Jimmy and she’s getting increasingly frustrated. She doesn’t understand that Jimmy’s initial resistance is just him barely keeping it together while he comes to grips with his new feelings for her. Cindy already knows that she’s getting to Jimmy, but clearly she was hoping for the “Knock Out” punch and having Jimmy’s affections right away. It appears Jimmy’s got some fight left in him (at least for the time being), which is both frustrating and intriguing for her. Don’t worry J/C fans! Cindy eventually breaks through Jimmy’s flimsy defenses and gets her prize, Jimmy’s heart. However, love crazed and determined; Cindy is willing to put her friends at risk to accomplish her goal of getting Jimmy Neutron for herself.

So on to “King of Mars!” The episode starts with the crew star gazing in what appears to be a park. We are entertained with some Carl and Sheen antics, but we know something’s definitely up when we see Cindy dousing herself with perfume. Libby already knows what Cindy’s up to but only half-heartedly challenges her then leaves Cindy to her objectives. Cindy cleverly engages Jimmy in some scientific banter both for the unusual activity on Mars, and to ensure that Jimmy gets a good whiff of her perfume. Jimmy is clearly beguiled by Cindy’s scent and soft demure behavior, but shakes it off before Cindy can draw him in further. The discovery of the Martian energy source is completely secondary to what’s really going on here. Cindy trying to woo Jimmy! Strangely enough Sheen could’ve facilitated things a bit, or at least knocked some of the rocks out of Jimmy’s head. We know from the “Carl Wheezer Boy Genius” episode that Sheen understands the “Call of the wild” and held Jimmy in check so Carl could have his shot at love with Elke. Unusual wisdom for such a manic character but we already know that Sheen, as with all the main characters, has a good heart and looks out for his friends. Sheen could’ve easily hit Jimmy upside the head saying, “Cindy is in your face wanting your attention you idiot, now go tell her she looks nice or something!” But the writers clearly wanted to taunt to viewers with this more. Eustace arrives in what appears to be something out of “War of the Worlds,” and disrupts the star gazing date. Ultimately Jimmy foils his efforts and leaves Eustace with his wrecked robot. Again, this is a completely secondary plot as the objective now is to get to Mars.

Cindy decides to “tart it up” with a bit of makeup and engage Jimmy in close conversation again, this time catching up with him preparing the spacecraft for the journey to Mars. Jimmy certainly notes Cindy’s appearance with awe and amazement. Cindy jumps at the chance to catch him with his defenses down and turns on the charm. Jimmy, however, shakes if off again and responds in the only way a young boy in love could possibly respond, with anger and denial. She knows Jimmy is weakening but wants to press on. While going to Mars Cindy continues her assault on Jimmy’s defenses by wearing her stylish new spacesuit, but every time Jimmy seems receptive, he backs off with the usual flurry of sparks. Cindy’s frustration at not being able to land this fish is now at peak intensity, and this forces her to conspire with Eustace to gain more of an upper hand with Jimmy. The plan backfires as Eustace was simply using Cindy (again) to get the upper hand on Jimmy and the crew. Cindy is now painfully aware that she has now betrayed her friends all for the sake of getting Jimmy’s attention. She blames her actions on Jimmy not noticing her, which of course, is the complete truth. This puts Jimmy’s back to the wall seeing that Cindy has now taking considerable risk and put her cards on the table, he’s been called and needs to show his hand. Jimmy’s profession of affection for Cindy is diminished only by the actions of a boy trying to protect what’s left of his pride. He clearly sees that Cindy has gone to extraordinary lengths to get his attention and doesn’t quite know how to react. Jimmy struggles to say what really feels but what comes out seems to be masked with boyish caution. His feeble attempts are convincing enough for Cindy who is both overjoyed and relieved at what he was able to get out. It had to be very difficult for Jimmy to say leaving his heart open to her, and in front of their friends. Carl, Libby, and Sheen seem only half astonished at the news. It seems that everyone else knows that Jimmy and Cindy’s love is inevitable, save for Jimmy perhaps, and they’re glad there’s been some progress….finally!

The secondary, and quite insignificant, subplot plays out with Jimmy and Eustace forming an alliance to thwart the Martian’s intentions to destroys earth. The whole crew ultimately defeats the Martians and are now able to return home. Libby is still in disbelief, “I can’t believe Jimmy admitted his likes Cindy!” She says. Jimmy again attempts to retain a shred of pride claiming that Cindy distracts him, and there’s apparently a difference. Cindy’s response of “Sure there is!” shows that she’s on to Jimmy from now on. She knows that she’s finally gotten close to the one thing she wanted to get close too, Jimmy’s heart. There’s no turning back for Jimmy now and yes, as you might have guessed, he’s toast.

Nick has not aired this episode in the United States as of yet, but if you want to see it check out youtube.com. Just do a search for “King of Mars” and you can view the episode online. It’s divided into three 7 ½ minute parts to reduce the file size. So there you go J/C romance fans….enjoy!

There is also a really good music video set to the song “Crash and Burn” which has lots of J/C moments as clips during the song. It was actually very well done…

A Great episode. Rich with J/C moments here. Eustace and Jimmy have a dogfight to get a power source, while Cindy flirts with Jimmy all throughout the episode. The plot is exciting and a must-watch for J/C fans throughout the world. Americans can watch this one on YouTube, and other contires on TV. Eustace has an annoying laugh, there are rock martians on Mars, and Cindy finally knows what she wants- Jimmy. And she won't stop to get his attention whether it means putting on perfume, makeup, or to Join with Eustace Strych to get him Jealous, she won't stop in this episode.moreless

Why is Junkman not in this episode? This episode is so awesome. Why is the richest kid in Retroville trying to get to Mars? How did he get rich? How did they meet in the first place. Well, as you probably know from another episode with the kite race. I love this show and I wish that this episode would be on more. Why would Cindy want to look at space closer anyway? It's weird. Why is Professor clamitous not in this episode? ALl I know is it's just that rich kid as a "vilain" in thsi episode. I can't beleive Cindy di that and falled for The rich guy's trick.moreless

I love this episode!!!!! Even though when it aired I only saw bits and pieces. That's how much I want to see it again!!!

I love it when Cindy and Jimmy are flirting, ( my favorites are when Cindy is flirting and Jimmy doesn't notice, and when Jimmy acts like, stupidlyish. Is stupidlyish even a word? Anyway....)

This is diffently one of my favorites and is one of the only reasons I watch it. And why I am obsessed with it.

Libby, Sheen, Carl, Jimmy, and Cindy are all there normal selfs but better in this perfect example of J/C romance and comedy.moreless
