Miss Winifred Fowl (voice)
Cynthia Aurora "Cindy" Vortex (voice)
Liberty Danielle "Libby" Folfax (voice)
Hugh Beaumont Neutron (voice)
Cindy's favorite flavor of ice cream is pecan ripple swirl.
MeltyFace was Sheen's 1st action figure, retired after a horrible steam iron accident. He's still Sheen's favorite, though, and Sheen gave him to Libby as a gesture of his love.
During "My Valentine," Cindy makes the American Sign Language symbol for "I love you" with her right hand. It's a shot where she's singing the words "My valentine," while there's a row of boys behind her on their knees, bowing to the floor. The gesture is a combination of the symbols for "I" and "L" and "Y."
Cindy, Libby, Britney, and Sam sing in Cindy's song and dance number, "My Valentine."
Libby gave Sheen a kiss on the cheek and admits she thinks Sheen is cute. Sheen gave Libby his first ever action figure (Melty Face) and made her a throne of action figures.
Cindy and Jimmy didn't kiss, but came close to it.
This episode has special heart shaped scene-changers instead of the usual atoms.
In this episode, Jimmy loves Cindy, Sheen loves Libby, and Carl loves Judy Neutron
Every girl that Jimmy, Sheen and Carl fell in love with, are the people they are crushing on the next few episodes.
When Jimmy is talking about his "only true love", Madame Curie, you can see Sheen playing with some glue in the background, and eventually getting the glue bottle stuck to his tongue.
In this episode, the chalk board changes for once to a Valentine's day heart & arrow, but on the far right ( from the student's point of veiw) you can see It says "Long division next week....BE SCARED!!!".
About the cheese they use to stop the effects of the love potion: Wouldn't the effects return as soon as they got rid of the cheese?
Jimmy says that the only female he's ever been attracted to is Madame Curie - "in a purely platonic way, of course." But he's obviously also been attracted to both Cindy Vortex and Betty Quinlan.
Right before Sheen shouts the alien challenge to the old lady, he's holding one ton-thar. In every other shot, however, he's holding two (before tossing one to Libby).
When Carl opened Jimmy's clubhouse door he hit Jimmy, who seems to be reachin his hand out for the doorknob.
But there's one problem ... there wasn't a doorknob, so what was Jimmy reaching for?
(Jimmy is on his rocket while using his binoculars)
Jimmy: (looks out for Cindy)Found her! My sweet little angel is finally here at the Candy Bar... (sighs and blasts off)
Jimmy: Me see you soon day? That was a stupid thing to say. Wait, whay do I care what Cindy thinks? And why did I become lost in her limpid green eyes? I've been in the lab too long!
Sam: (to Jimmy) You messy little hooligan! I just cleaned that floor 8 months ago!
Jimmy: (after Cindy says she'll go out with him the next day) I did it! She likes me! She's gonna go out with me! I made a date with Cindy! (realizes what he's saying) Noooooooooooo!
Cindy: (after Jimmy asks her out) I'll give you one chance, Neutron. But if this is a trick, you'll have to go back in time to make sure you were never born!
Jimmy: (to Cindy) I love you, but I'm supposed to hate you!!
Cindy: Listen, Neutron, about this afternoon....
Jimmy: I know, I know. I'm pretty dumb ... I mean, technically, I'm a genius, but ... well, what I mean is ... ugh! This isn't coming out right....
Cindy: Look, Neutron. We both know what you wanna say, so just say it!
Jimmy: Okay, okay! Cindy ... will you be my valentine?
Cindy: Neutron, you silver-tongued, pointy-headed devil! I thought you'd never ask.
Jimmy: I have a question to ask you. I-it's a big question.
Cindy: Spit it out, Neutron!
Libby: It just feels like all this is happening too fast! Maybe what you and I need is more time to work on our "friendship."
Sheen: But what about our battle skills?!
Libby: Sheen, this is so weird! But sweet ... in a geeky kind of way.
Jimmy: I can't talk; I can't think! Everywhere I go, you're there!
Cindy: What kind of sick joke is this?
Jimmy: Oh, you're gonna make me say it, aren't ya? All right, then, I'll say it. I LOVE YOU, CINDY VORTEX!!!!!
Cindy: I know that, someday, that special, magical someone will appear when I least expect it.
(Jimmy crash-lands outside)
Carl: (about him and Mrs. Neutron) What we have is beautiful, and you can't destroy it!
Hugh: (not listening) All righty, then.
Jimmy: Me see you soon day!!
Libby: (about Sheen) But he's cute... in a clueless, hyperactive kind of way.
Sheen: Hey, Jimmy, thanks for fixing things before I married Libby.
Carl: Yeah, and before I became your step dad.
Sheen: I think that this is my favorite part of Valentine's Day! (rings gong loudly)
Libby: What are you doing?!
Sheen: Well, as my Valentine, you must now defeat your rivals in pitched combat!
Jimmy's outfit from "Party at Neutron's" returns.
Keith Alcorn was nominated for an Annie Award for this episode.
This episode first aired via Nick Latin America on December 4, 2003. It aired in England on 3 January 2004. Both dates are nowhere near Valentine's Day!
This was originally going to air with "Party At Neutron's" and be about 15 minutes in length. However, it has been expanded into a full 30-minute episode.
Meltyface could be a refrence to Meltman, the melted G.I Joe action figure of Action League Now! on Nickelodeon's animated skethc comedy KABLAM!
Sheen: Do I offend?
This quote is an allusion to Duckie in "Pretty in Pink." After being rejected, he said the same thing in a 'ghetto' accent. It is also a Spongebob Squarepants quote, Spongebob said that in the episode "Dumped".
"My Valentine": Context
As is true in The Fairly OddParents' Valentine's episode "Love Struck!," the main "love" song is about what girls want.
Background: Helmet and Throne
In the background, when Jimmy set's the lab to romantic mode, you can see both the statue that Sheen uses as his throne in "Sheen's Brain" and the hall monitor helmet from "Hall Monster".
Love Potion #976/J: Plot
This episode is similar to the episode of Duckman where King Chicken makes a heart potion and gets Duckman to fall in love with the girl that he has hated for years. This episode is also similar to the episode of The Mask called "Love Potion No. 8 ½."
Sheen: You'll see soon enough, Oh Bringer Of Pain And Delight!
In the Star Trek episode "Spock's Brain," the men of a civilization refer to the women as "the bringers of pain and delight."
Sheen: I'm proving my love by performing the Arcturian Dance of Wooing from episode #921, "The Courtship of UltraLord's Father"!
"The Courtship of UltraLord's Father" is taken from The Courtship of Eddie's Father.
Carl: (singing) Oh, Judy ... well, you came and you baked me some cookies!
Carl's song is to the tune of Barry Manilow's "Mandy."
Cindy: Look, Libby, it's Lose and Loser!
This could be a reference to the movie Dumb and Dumber.
Sheen: KOON-UT KA-LI-FEE!!
The challenge that Sheen shouts to Libby in an alien language is a reference to Star Trek's "Amok Time." The alien language is Vulcan, and even though Sheen didn't get the phrase exactly right, "Koon-ut Ka-li-fee!" basically translates to "Marriage challenge!" Also, the broom-rake he was holding ("the deadly Ton-Thor," as Sheen called it), looked like the weapon used in the episode.
Title Screen/Music:Love, American Style

Love Potion #976/J: Title
The title spoofs the movie Love Potion No. 9.
