"Macbeth in Space" is actually not much like the real Macbeth at all. Macbeth was not a hero, he was a tyrant. There was no pirate in the play. The real Macbeth is about what happens when someone gets hungry for power: Macbeth kills the king to gain the throne, his wife shows guilt by sleepwalking and sleep-talking about that event, the witches trick Macbeth into thinking he will be king forever, and the kingdom overthrows Macbeth and kills him. Not like Principal Willoughby's rendition at all.
Apparently, Bolbi is a good actor!
Goof: When Sheen's laser-spear is accidentally shot, the image pans to a kid who has a hole in his hat. The kid is none other than Chuck Lester! But what is he doing there? Didn't he move to Greece?
Why would Sheen need a real laser spear if he never actually fires it in the play?
Miss Fowl said it was unfair when Principal Willoughby immediately casted Nick as Macbeth. But she didn't mind when he immediately casted Carl, Cindy, & Libby as the witches.
At first Bolbi calls Act 5 the "Act of 5" but later he says "What doing Jimmy? Bolbi need jet pack for return in Act 5"
Betty says, "Macbeth, Macbeth, wherefore art thou, Macbeth?" She's using "wherefore" as "where," but it means "why."
Nobody was credited for the voice of Corky Shimazu.
Betty:Mcbeth, Mcbeth, where art-thou Mcbeth?
Jimmy:(Dreamy voice)Hi!
(after Jimmy uses the Neutronic Storminator to prevent Nick from kissing Betty)
Nick: Hey! Watch it Neutron!
Jimmy: (lying) Sorry Nick, won't happen again!
Cindy: I'm on to you Neutron...
Jimmy: Accidents happen!
Cindy: Just don't mess anything wrong while I'm on stage. If someone messes me up, I mess them up!
Sheen: (commenting on the tornado) That wasn't too bad! I thought it would be much worse!
Jimmy: It will be! In the outside atmosphere, the tornado will increase in size!
Hugh: You know I don't usually like the classics, but this is pretty good!
Betty: See you onstage, Jimmy... I mean, Macbeth.
Carl: Uh, Jimmy, I thought we agreed that we didn't like girls.
Jimmy: We don't; Betty is a woman.
Sheen: Got it!
Jimmy: To prepare for my role, I researched Shakespeare, Scottish kings, and downloaded the Keanu Reeves acting crash course. (as Reeves) Whoa ... is this a laser sword I see before me?
Judy: Oh, that was...
Hugh: That was stink-a-roony, Jimbo! Open up a window!
Judy: Hugh!
Nick: (screams as he flies through the air) DUDE!! Oh, man, I broke my leg!
Sheen: Alright! That's good luck! Way to go, Nick!!
Principal Willoughby: Sheen, I see you more as Soldier #5.
Sheen: What?! A lousy soldier?! No way! (throws down the script) Forget it! I'm outta here!
Principal Willoughby: He gets to carry a laser spear.
Sheen: Laser spear?! For the love of UltraLord, please let me be Soldier #5!
Principal Willoughby: Carl Wheezer! You can not be in the play if we can't hear you! You are wasting our time...
Carl: (hysterically) It's not my fault! I didn't even want to do this! My mom forced me! She said it would be good for my self-esteem!
Principal Willoughby: Ladies and gentlemen, we found our first witch.
Carl: (curtsies) Thank you.
Principal Willoughby: Louder!
Mrs. Vortex: My daughter, Cynthia, is the star of the show.
Hugh: She's MacBeth?
Mrs. Vortex: No, she's a witch.
Judy: (rolls her eyes) So I hear.
Carl: Hey, Jimmy, I just found out that the play Macbeth has a curse, and you're not supposed to say "Macbeth," 'cause if you say "Macbeth," bad things happen because you said "Macbeth," and we've been saying "Macbeth" a lot.... And congratulations on getting the part of Macbeth! (gasps) I SAID "MACBETH"!!!
Jimmy: (explaining how to use the Neutron Storminator) Okay, Sheen. All you have to do is press the buttons--
Sheen: Got it!
Jimmy: I'm not done. You press the buttons one at a time--
Sheen: Got it!
Jimmy: I'm not done! Press the buttons one at a time when they light up.
(Sheen blinks)
Jimmy: I'm done.
Sheen: Got it!
This episode was the beginning of the never-ending joke of Nick breaking his leg skateboarding.
The play's name was "Mac Beth in Space."
Betty kissed Jimmy again in this episode.
In this episode, we learn that Cindy's real name is Cynthia.
Second appearance of Bolbi Stroganovsky, the seventh of Betty Quinlan, the second of Corky Shimazu, and the fourth of Mrs. Vortex.
This episode aired at 6:00 PM on Thursday, March 11, 2004.
Mrs. Vortex: (interrupting Principal Willoughby when he introduces the play title and star of play) I'll bet it's my Cynthia! She can play all the parts!(to Mr. and Mrs Neutron) I played all the parts in Snow White, even all the Dwarfs: Happy, Gloomy, Zippy, Shuyguy....
Shuyguy is the name of a Super Mario Enemy that wears a mask and robes that made it's debut in Super Mario Bros. 2 for NES in 1988.
Jimmy: Whoa! Is this a laser sword I see before me?
Also a parody of Cleopatra when she says "Is that an asp I see before me?".
When Jimmy explained he downloaded the Keanu Reeves acting crash course, he spoke like the dumb Keanu Reeves character Ted in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure.
Jimmy: Is this a laser sword I see before me?
This line, slightly altered, comes from the final scene of the first act of Macbeth, in which Macbeth prepares to kill Duncan, the current King of Scotland.
Cow: (in the tornado)
This is from Twister.
Jimmy and Bolbi: (dueling with the light-swords)
This is a parody of the lightsaber fights that can often be seen in Star Wars. The protagonist's lightsaber (Jimmy's) is blue (like Obi-Wan's), and the antagonist's (Bolbi's) is red (like Darth Vader's).
Jimmy: Get thee to another galaxy!
This is a spoof of Hamlet's famous charge to Ophelia to "Get thee to a nunnery!"
Willoughby: What a world!
This is the famous last line of the Wicked Witch of the West from the movie The Wizard of Oz.
Jimmy: Maketh my day.
This is a slight modification of the macho challenge, "Go ahead. Make my day," echoed by Clint Eastwood's Dirty Harry.
Nick: (on his knees) LADY MACBETH!!!
This is a take on the line "STELLA!!!!!" from A Street Car Named Desire.
Bolbi: A plague a' all your galaxies! Parting is such sweet sorroooooow!
These are modified quotes from Romeo and Juliet. ("A plague a' both your houses!" and "Parting is such sweet sorrow that I shall say good night till it be morrow.")
Cindy: Hi everyone! My name's Cindy! What's yours?
Mrs. Vortex: Smile, baby!
This is a reference to the Broadway play/movie Gypsy, about the life of Gypsy Rose Lee. In the acts, Gypsy Rose Lee (aka Louise) performs with her sister June when their mom (Mama Rose) put them in showbusiness. When she entered, June would say, "Hi everyone! My name's June! What's yours?" And Rose would sometimes shout stuff from the wings, like "Smile baby!" or "Sing out!" to them.
Bolbi: Now is the winter of your discontent!
This is another modified quote, from Richard the Third. ("Now is the winter of our discontent.")
Betty: "Macbeth, Macbeth, wherefore art thou Macbeth?" and "But soft, what piercing comet through yonder porthole breaks?"
These are modified quotes from Romeo and Juliet. ("O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo?" and "But soft! What light through yonder window breaks?")
Bolbi: "I come to bury Macbeth, not to praise him" and "Friends, Moldexians, countrymen - lead me to your ears!"
These are modified quotes from Shakespeare's tragic play Julius Caesar. ("I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him" and "Friends, Romans, Countrymen, lend me your ears!")
Principal Willoughby: 'Twas long ago, in a galaxy most far, far away....
This is a parody of the famous Star Wars opening line, "Long ago, in a galaxy far away...."
Carl: (riding a bicycle in the tornado)
This scene resembles the Wicked Witch of the West when she was riding a bicycle in Dorothy's window during a tornado in The Wizard of Oz.
Title: "Out, Darn Spotlight"
"Out, Darn Spotlight" is taken from a quote in Shakespeare's Macbeth: "Out, darn spot," said by Lady Macbeth.
Bolbi: I'll be backeth!
This is a slight tweak of the line "I'll be back" from The Terminator.
