The essence of the Pete and Pete shorts were that they were surreal, yet extremely familiar, exactly like a kid's daydream: exaggerated, but with a down to earth feel. This short had all of that.
It starts out with older Pete narrating his horrible Summer job: mowing the lawn on Route 34! So, to pass the time, he thinks of deep, philosophical questions, such as if dogs go to a dog heaven or people heaven, exploding cars with his mind (it only worked once), until his friend Ellen mysteriously shows up and walks him the rest of the way. Arguably the best thing about this short, however, is how quick it is; a whole detailed, somewhat nonsensical story just comes and goes in a minute or less, making you want to see it again to catch all of the detail. Many people were glad that this was made into a full 30 minute series, and I can certainly agree with them.
