  • Brotherly Warfare

This epsode sort of hits home in a way because I myself have had a ongoing warfare with my younger brother and unfortunately unlike the ending in this episode, the tragedy is it hasn't ended it has continued.

But enough about me, this episode is the first time we see both Pete brothers go to war against one another. This episode displays the nature of war, how the littlest thing can be the catalist of rivalry and how far it can truely go, it knows no bounds nor cares whether one, the other, or both are destroyed in the process. It was great seeing the little methods they have constructed to keep peace like a time system to not eat at the same table at the same time, Ellen acting as a communication carrier for the two. Down to the funniest moments like seeing probably one of the most daftest fights ever, seeing Artie fight a bowling ball and both Pete's have a psychic showdown with one another. Comic gold.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • During the staring contest, Big Pete sees his brother's head as a rubick's cube, Abe Lincoln, and a fish.
Likewise, Little Pete saw Big Pete's head as Mr. Tastee, and a globe.

    • Apperently, the Canadian border is only a four hour walk away from the Wrigley home.

  • QUOTES (18)

    • Little Pete: Quit stalling, chowder-head, make me laugh!

    • Little Pete: Bite my neck hair!!

    • Big Pete: (voice-over) Even with Artie guarding the house, the whole thing felt out of control.
Artie: Careful boy, careful! There are infavorable omens in the air...

    • Big Pete: ... Any messages we had were sent through Ellen.
(Ellen sends a message to Big Pete in flag code)

    • Big Pete: (voice-over) I guess Artie could feel the disturbance in the cosmic wind. Becuase the next morning, the Strongest Man in the World had his port-a-home parked in our lawn, and stood vigilant watch over our house.

    • Little Pete: Well, goddnight... buddy.
      Big Pete: Sleep tight... pal.

    • Projector Voice-over: Dad: A man of vision! Dad: A man of strength! Yes, few mortal men have the coordination, determination, and the overall niceness of Dad!
      Don: Aw Pete!
Big Pete: It was going to be a long battle.

    • Little Pete: (to Dad) Cut to the chase, squirmy.

    • Big Pete: What if you could get your driver's licence now, but for six months you'd have a trout head?
Little Pete: I already got one. (shows his licence)
Big Pete: How'd you do that?!

    • Little Pete: What if you could be rich forever, but you had to go to the bathroom through your nose?
      Big Pete: Once a day?
      Little Pete: Yeah.
Big Pete: ... I'd do it.

    • Big Pete: (voice-over) I think my dad was more proud of his bowling ball than he was of me and Pete!
(Don shows his wallet, with a collection of pictures of the bowling ball)

    • Big Pete: How was I to know that a 10 pound bowling ball was about to roll into our lives?

    • Big Pete): Some people don't think you can be best friends with your little brother, but with us, it's easy. I guess we both have the same Pete-way of looking at things
(Little Pete changes the traffic light so they can cross the street)

    • Big Pete: (narration) What makes someone your best friend? I think it's that you laugh at the same things, you stand by each other no matter what, and sometimes when you're together, you look at each other and you just know.

    • John McLaughlin: Issue One: Dad's bowling ball. Who deserves the celebrated sphere? Item: Young Pete toppled the Asian bond market. Item: Young Pete's science project caused spontaneous baldness in the Texas panhandle. Item: Young Pete accidentally drained Lake Superior. His response?
      Little Pete: No comment, grungebag!
John McLaughlin: No comment, grungebag? Not good enough. Exit question: who gets the ball, Young Pete? Wrong. Answer? Older Pete. Bye bye!

    • Television Voiceover: Pete says he's responsible, but last year he broke the hall vase. Pete says he loves his parents, but he didn't buy their anniversary card, he just signed it. And for the algebra final, Pete had to borrow notes. Broke the vase, signed the card, borrowed notes. You need someone you can trust with your bowling ball. Give it to Pete, he deserves it! Paid for by the Committee to Give Pete the Bowling Ball.

    • Big Pete: Honest Abe Lincoln once said, "A house divided against itself cannot stand." ...I'll bet his dad was a bowler too.

    • Big Pete: (Narrating) Some say he possessed the secrets of the universe. All we knew for sure was he used to fix dishwashers for a living. He was our dad's dad; our grandfather.

  • NOTES (0)

    • The title is a play on When Worlds Collide, a 1933 science fiction novel.

    • The cookies Dad and Grandpa are eating, "Fig Newlies", is a play on the popular cookie brand Fig Newtons, right down to the Nabisco logo on the corner of the box.

    • The two films that the Petes made for their dad are similar to election commercials that show their rivals in a despicable way in order to persuade viewers that they are the better choice to be elected.
