Things get crazy when TJ goes to investigate strange happenings at a scrapyard. It's owner, Mr. Wagner, is suffering from post-traumatic delusions as a result of being in a Nazi concentration camp, and believes that anyone entering his yard is the enemy. This is one of my personal favorites, a good example of what can be done wih ony four characters (season regulars Clark, Lana, and TJ, plus guest star Abe Vigoda) and a few sets. The drama of Vigoda's paranoid victim/villain is well played out in this little exercise. If the Holocaust elements may seem stock, the unfortunate truth is you could remake this with a survivor of anything from Yugoslavia to Darfur with sadly litle tweaking. Clark's moral that Superboy's purpose is to prevent such tragedy is a challenge to us all, not an excuse.
On another note, Stacy Haiduk's swimsuit scenes have their own obvious appeal!moreless

    ADD NOTES
    • Guest star Abe Vigoda is well known as both "Sal" in Francis Ford Coppola's original "The Godfather" (1972) and for playing Fish on the hit television series "Barney Miller." Edit
    • The show featured all sorts of original ways for Clark Kent to change into his real identity, and this episode was no exception. Lana playfully pushes Clark into a swimming pool with his clothes still on. As she's about to dive in, Clark hears T.J.'s cries for help with his super hearing. Lana dives into the water, and during that moment, Clark flies out of his preppy clothes and streaks upward from the pool as Superboy. Coming to the surface, Lana is left holding Clark's glasses and wondering where he went. Edit
