Lex Luthor is back and he has a new face. Assuming the identity of a doctor who's created a weapon called the "Superboy" gun, he kidnaps Lana, forcing her to marry him, and uses the weapon on Superboy, paralyzing him, possibly forever.

      • In this episode Scott Wells was replaced as Lex Luthor by Sherman Howard for the remainder of the series.

      • For the second season, the show gets new theme music, and a new opening sequence. Jim Calvert is no longer present, and Ilan Mitchell-Smith is now in the credits.

      • At 31 years old, Gerard Christopher was a little old to be called "boy." This is 5 years older than Christopher Reeve who played Superman in the first motion picture in 1978 at the age of 26!

      • This episode saw an new actor playing Clark Kent/Superboy. Gerard Christopher replaced John Haymes Newton for the remainder of the series, as the producers wanted to avoid scandal headlines that were caused by John Haymes Newton being arrested for DUI.

      • In 1994 Gerard Christopher was given the role of Clark Kent in the 'Lois & Clark: the New Adventures of Superman' series but when the producers read that he had starred in Superboy he was dismissed becuase they wanted a unknown actor to play the hero, a part that eventually went to Dean Cain.
