The Little Prince arrives in the Andes Mountains, where he befriends a young boy named Carlos and helps his uncle construct a hot air balloon. Carlos gets trapped on a high mountain, and the Little Prince and the uncle must save him.
Altogether, not a bad first episode. The narrator provides a short introduction and history of the Prince. All the necessary information is there. I would have liked to have seen an episode with the Prince on B6-12 and slowly introducing his planet and his rose and the birds, etc., but that kind of episode wouldn't have had a lot of action.
I like that the show has a mixture of English, Spanish, and French. It teaches kids common phrases in other languages.
Carlos's father died trying to reach the top of a large mountain. Now, Carlos wants to succeed where his father failed. His uncle thinks it is too dangerous, and he thinks Carlos doesn't help him enough with constructing his hot-air balloon. The balloon was a neat plot element. Pedro saves Carlos from the mountain, and then says that the adventure has brought them closer together.
There is a sweet moment. Pedro gives Carlos flowers to spread at the top of the mountain in honor of his father. Very nice.
The backgrounds are quite beautiful and the score is very pretty and accents the action quite nicely.
All in all, by judging the first episode, I think the series should allude quite nicely to the philosophies mentioned in the book. A good series and very educational for children.
