    • TRIVIA (2)

      • Carolyn goes moose hunting, which can be quite dangerous. More people are killed yearly by moose than by bears.

      • Team Hawkins Glacier: Greg and Bernice butcher the goat Jeff killed, but wolves are beginning to circle the cabin. Jeff goes hunting for wolves to protect his food supply. They also search for running water, but find everything is frozen.

Team Flower Lake: Paul and Donna visit and teach the trio how to hunt. Tim bags a rabbit, and Allan a squirrel, both of which Jasmine cooks.

Team Riou Point: Neil Webster, a professional hunting guide, teaches Carolyn how to shoot and takes her moose hunting. They see a moose, but are unable to get a shot at it in the thick foliage.

Team Back Bay: Jeff and Elizabeth see another bear, but are unable to find much additional food for themselves. Jeff improvises a crab trap, but they can't get the traps out deep enough to catch any.

    • QUOTES (6)

      • Carolyn: (on going moose hunting) All my life I've relied on dad. He worked, you know, for thirty years at a very difficult job, and it's really awesome that my dad is trusting me to take down this animal. This is a chance to provide for my dad, while he's perfectly capable of doing it- but he's giving it up to me to that.

      • Jasmine: (carving meat off a dead bison they discovered being eaten by eagles) I never thought I would ever be scavenging meat off a dead animal.

      • Neil Webster: When you're calling for moose, you've got to be aware that not only will a moose come in, but a bear may come in looking for an easy meal. And moose, when they come in full rut, they're expecting to find a cow there or another bull to fight, so they're pumped up and charged up, so they can be dangerous as well, cause the horns on a moose are just as deadly as the claws on a bear.

      • Greg: I never imagined I'd be, you know, stalking a wolf or anything like that, but if it comes down to the wolf trying to get my goat or me shooting the wolf, you know I'm going to go after the wolf. Because we're here to survive.

      • Jasmine: (cooking a rabbit) I have to say, it wasn't the most pleasant experience to cut off their paws.

      • Jeff: (on his second close encounter with a bear) We talk about how we're in the food chain, but it's an abstraction until you see the food chain up close.
