The normal versions of Phil's opening monologue are now gone pretty much entirely; he makes no references to "clues in sealed envelopes," "eat, sleep and mingle" or pretty much any of the other things he usually says.
Only one non-romantically involved team remains in the Race: Brian and Greg.
Balance Sheet: Rob and Amber move up from fifth to first. Brian and Greg move up from third to second. Uchenna and Joyce move down from second to third. Ron and Kelly remain in fourth. Lynn and Alex move down from first to fifth. Ray and Deana and Meredith and Gretchen remain in the same placings that they were in the previous leg. Susan and Patrick remain in last and are eliminated.
Roadblock: "Who's ready to horse around?" was the clue teams were given to help decide who should perform this leg's Roadblock. One team member had to ride a horse around a set of barrels, and then spear a ring from a rope with a stick at the finish line in 40 seconds or less which is the competitive time for an Argentine cowboy. Alex, Joyce, Kelly, Brian, Rob, Deana and Patrick completed this Roadblock.
Rob/Amber, Uchenna/Joyce, Brian/Greg chose "Shipwreck", where they searched a seven square mile area for a shipwreck, with only a 30-year-old photograph of the boat the guide them.
Lynn/Alex, Ron/Kelly, Meredith/Gretchen, Susan/Patrick, and Ray/Deana chose "Island", where they travelled four miles to the San Antonio River to find an island with their bext clue. While searching for the shipwreck, Uchenna/Joyce stumbled onto the island, essentially completing that instead.
Rob: We have had such great luck today. I think I have been born with a horseshoe...up my ass.
Lynn: Rob and Amber are like an STD; you need to protect yourselves from them and the best way to do that is to stay away from them.
Rob: The other teams love us. They're striving to be like us. On a good day. Maybe.
Rob: I like being under pressure. It makes me do better. It gives me an edge.
Susan: Patrick's pessimism is frustrating for me.
Ray: I'm not losing to a 70-year-old man and his wife, even if it were checkers.
Ray: Meredith and Gretchen. The farther they follow us; the further away they get from the clue.
Rob: Luck has been on my side. It was like I was born with a horseshoe right up my ass.
Uchenna: We started looking for the shipwreck and we found the island.
Rob: We don't have time to mess around. We're going to the Pit Stop.
Rob: Holy canoli! The boat just cracked in half!
Alex: Lynn and I just don't talk to Rob and Amber.
Patrick: Mom, I want you to stop before we have an embarrassing moment.
Ray: I'm not a back-of-the-pack person. I won't accept that, period.
Gretchen: (to Meredith) What a Gaucho you are!
Ray: We're going to get eliminated over horse riding.
Amber: Oh, I can't wait to see the look on their face!
Amber: If we caught up to the other teams after taking a four hour penalty, they would die.
Ron: (referring to Kelly) I just want you to know I had to eat crap and she gets to ride a horse.
Kelly: (reading the Roadblock clue) "Who's ready to horse around?" I'll do it.
Kelly: You're supposed to be navigation.
Ron: Relax, we're heading in the right direction, everything's fine.
When Rob sees the man with the clue at the shipwreck, he borrows the title of a Hemingway novel, calling him The Old Man and the Sea.
