  • Opie learns about losing.

This is one of those episodes that just bumbles along and doesn't really grab you. Yes, we see Opie try to win the medal, he doesn't, and then is upset when he doesn't. Andy tells him that he needs to learn how to lose. He gets it and go off to play. What more needs be said?

    • (Barney's ranting because he was turned down for a raise. Andy starts to leave.)
      Barney: Where are you going?
Andy: I'm leaving. For a mature human being, you're a sight!

    • (Opie signs up for the race, Barney tells Opie he won a medal when he was young)
Opie: You trained and won your self a medal?
Barney: That's right, I trained... trained real hard 'til I was just one big muscle from the tip of my toes to the top of my head.
Opie: Boy. Would you show me how to train, Barney?
Barney: Why I sure would. And I don't mind telling, you've come to the right place, too.
Opie: You mean you're gonna make me one big muscle, too?
      Barney: Yeah.
Andy: 'Cept in your case, we'll try to stop at the neck.
Barney: That's very comical, Andy. Only comicalness don't win no medals.
