  • Aunt Bee & Clara--songwriters!

    8.0
This is not a bad episode, but it is lacking in "umph" and clear comedic timing. The storyline is fairly thin and a bit convulted. The singer arrives in town and accepts dinner at the house of someone he has never met. Bee and Clara barge in to his hotel room and his manager gets the clever idea to use their song. There just wasn't any real lead up to the episode's climax. From a musical perspective, it's interesting to see the song performed in a frantic sixties style, a homespun Mayberry style and finally in a jazzy and poignant style. It's definitely an episode worth watching--especially the ending with its musical numbers.moreless
