  • Andy and Helen get away--sort of!

    8.5
The series is at its best when it deals iwth simple human situations. This is the case in this episode where Barney offers to let Andy and Helen have a complete day at the lake. Barney in turn promises to take care of all of Andy and Helen's chores and things to do. As you can imagine, their quiet day at the lake is anything but! Very funny and sweet, with a larger role for Goober in the series than has been seen before. Excellent comedic acting by Don Knotts as always!moreless

    • (Barney thinks Andy and Helen are eloping; Aunt Bee is crying)
Barney: Now, Aunt Bee, there's no time for that kinda stuff. You can cry later.
Aunt Bee: Well, why did they have to do it this way? Why can't they have a real wedding?
Barney: This is the best way, believe me. Short and sweet and they can use the money for furniture.

    • (Andy and Barney are at the courthouse)
Andy: You look tired this mornin'.
Barney: (yawns) Well, I was out a little bit late last night.
Andy: What'd ya do? Have a date?
      Barney: (laughs) Yeah.
Andy: What time did you go to bed?
Barney: Oh, I don't know. I don't think my head hit the pillow before a quarter to eleven.
Andy: Hmm. I don't know how you keep up a pace like that. Where'd you go? Morrelli's?
Barney: Well, we started out at Morrelli's.
      Andy: Yeah? Then what?
Barney: Well, we went over to her house and watched a little... quote "TV".
Andy: Oh. (laughs) Lights off, huh?
Barney: It's kinda hard on your eyes to watch TV with the lights on.
