  • Proded by Aunt Bea, Andy gets jealous as he finds Helen spending more and more time with a handsome visting know-it-all board of education member until he finally errupts.

    7.0
This is one of the first of the jealousy/fighting with Helen episodes. After already seeing the later episodes "Andy's Old Girlfriend", "Helen the Authoress", "Andy's Trip to Raleigh" and "Helen's Past" I was beginning to think maybe this couple SHOULD break up. Usually confident and grown up, they both regress when put in situations that call for trust and character.

But there is one think that makes this episode different than all the other Andy/Helen relationship episodes and makes this a MUST see for AGS fans. When arguing with Helen on her porch, Andy realizes he's in the wrong (or maybe at this point he realizes he's already lost Barney, he's lost Gomer, Floyd has been out of the picture for awhile, he can't lose Helen too!), grabs Helen and lays one on her. She at first resists, then he does it again! Almost always we only see a hug or a peck on the cheek or a meaningful look between Helen and Andy. This is a major smooch session (for Mayberry) and thus is a real rarity and a must see for fans of the show.moreless
  • Andy and the green eyed monster!

    8.8
It's always nice to see Helen and Andy's relationship be tested. Andy's rival is indeed a true contender--you could almost imagine Helen riding off into the sunset with him. He's handsome, kind, talent and just plain old brilliant (it leaves you with the feeling that what's the matter with Helen?) Andy exhibits great jealousy, envy and irritation--and it surely is nice to see the easygoing Sheriff blow his gasket!
