The Andy Griffith Show

Season 8 Episode 23

Aunt Bee's Big Moment

Aired Monday 9:30 PM Feb 12, 1968 on CBS

Episode Recap

When a lively after dinner discussion of life achievements breaks out at the Taylor house Aunt Bee realizes that she has no defining moment of greatness in her life. Andy caught the winning touchdown pass, Helen won the spelling Bee, Howard threw caution to the wind and moved to the Caribbean, Goober won a pancake eating contest, but Aunt Bee has no such moment. When she finds an add for a free flying lesson the next day she becomes convinced that she has found her moment to shine. Much to Andy's dismay, Bee's one free lesson prompts her to sign up for the full course. The course will culminate in a final test - her first solo flight. Despite some tense moments and nervous anticipation she pulls of her solo flight with flying colors (no pun intended) and has her defining moment. The episode ends with Andy, Helen, Howard, and Goober all retelling their shining moments and Aunt Bee now getting to talk about hers.
