Barney's slightly slow cousin Virgil comes to town. Barney sticks his neck out for him, trying to help him out. When Virgil makes one too many mistakes, Barney rails against him and storms out. • An episode that isn't up to the usual.

Despite the grand talents of Michael J. Pollard, this episode never delivers the punch it could have. When dealing with the sensitive issue of mental handicaps, this episode just doesn't know what to do. Watching Virgil be clumsy and slow isn't funny at all--and actually quite painful on some level to watch. I think because the actor Michael J. Pollard is SO sweet and loveable you can't help but feel sorry for him as he tries his best. Having Andy get mad at him, makes us angry at ANDY for heaven's sake. And being angry at Andy is NOT what this show is about. The ending totally redeems this episode, and brings the total points of this show much higher than I would have given it.moreless

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • When Barney pulls off the wall of the cell, you nearly immediately see him in the window. However, this can't be, since the window is about 8 feet off the ground, and the car that he pulled it off with couldn't be under the window. Also, you can see the whole cell move indicating that it is not solid.

    • At the dinner scene cousin Virgil knocks a platter of roast onto Andy's lap, Andy was wearing his sherrifs uniform. At the end of the evening as Andy is seeing Barny and Virgil out the door he is still wearing his uniform... however it is spotless.
