  • To Mink or not to Mink

This is a very weak episode where a minor character (Emmett) gets a full episode and the writers didn't really have any character history to deal with Emmett and his wife. It's not a particularly funny episode, and is too trite in its resolution. The episode really has no substance and it's hard to say how it could be improved. Introducing Flora the waitress into the mix creates confusion in the mind of the viewer--if it had been Howard Sprague or Aunt Bee or Goober, I think the episode would have been MUCH funnier.moreless

    • Aunt Bee does not appear in this episode. Ethel Pendleton fills in in a role that looks like it was written for Aunt Bee. It is unclear if this switch was intentional or the result of some reason why Francis Bavier could not be on the set.

    • TV Land has edited the Andy Griffith Show for broadcast for commercial reasons. Consequently the scene where Emmett and Flora are at the diner waiting for Dorothy, Flora's relief, is never aired on this network.
