I had just finished watching Matlock on WGN when I heard the news. During its eight-year run on CBS in the 1960s, The Andy Griffith Show never finished out of the Nielsens' top ten and only twice finished out of the top five. It was #1 in its last season on the air. RIP!

Andy Griffith has died at the age of 86. An American icon of great accomplishment in both TV and film, he will always be remembered for his portrayal of Sheriff Andy Taylor in that forever place America called home - Mayberry, North Carolina. We'll miss ya, Andy. Godspeed. Smiley Clapping
