Who was your favorite guest star on Andy Griffith?

I liked Jack Prince as Rafe Hollister (although technically he's classified as a recurring role) and his incredible singing.

Does Danny Thomas count? Of course, it was Andy Griffith who guest-starred in an episode of The Danny Thomas Show that served as the pilot for The Andy Griffith Show. However, the entire episode took place in Mayberry, so in that sense, Danny Thomas was the guest.

Other than that, I can't pinpoint (I'm not very good at pinpointing favorites). There were several guests who later went on to fame, such as Barbara Eden, Bill Bixby, Michael J. Pollard, Morgan Brittany, and even Jack Nicholson.

There were many other notable guest stars, but I think my favorite (not counting Danny Thomas, if he could be counted at all) would be George Kennedy, perfectly cast as the no-nonsense detective in "The Big House" (5/6/63).

Denver Pyle as Briscoe Darling. But I guess he'd be considered a recurring role.

Revbucky beat me to it. I loved seeing gorgeous Barbara Eden playing a manicurist before her days on Dream of Jeannie. And wow to the Bill Bixby one! He was so young and handsome playing the son of a rich man who learned a wonderful lesson.
