  • The men folk are caught by surprise in this musical episode.

    7.1
In this episode, a record man comes to town to record the locals playing their music. It's a nice show case of some good music.

When it turns out that the man could make some serious money on the sale of his record, the men want to invest. Andy suspects that they've been set up by a confidence trickster.

Though I'm sure I've telegraphed it, (you'll have to see for yourself what happens), the men get caught in an unexpected twist.moreless
  • Mayberry sings!

    6.5
This is a so-so episode, where the idea is a good one (a record producer comes along to record authentic and new music), but for some reason or another the outcome doesn\'t produce any real laughs or deep imprint. It\'s one of those forgettable entries, where nothing really stands out. The writing is not the usual sharp and crisp style. Elinor Donahue, Ellie, also begins to look a little forced and not as sympathetic as usual.moreless

    • Andy: I didn't know that Mr. Maxwell that was sellin' any stock.
Barney: Well, he wasn't goin' to, but me and the boys over at the barber shop, we talked him into it.
Andy: You talked him into it?
Barney: Yeah, see when Maxwell admitted that he could make as much as a million dollars on the album, me and the boys, we shamed him into lettin' us buy in. Tried to talk his way out of it, but we cornered him good.
Andy: Barney, you know you just fell for the oldest slicker game in the world, don't you?
Barney: You don't see it, do you? Well, it's like they say, Stock Market's where you separate the men from the boys. I'll see ya, boy! Let me know next time you come across one of them rare nickels with the buffalo facin' the wrong way.

    • Barney: The check's made out to Barney Fife, it oughta be make out to Barney Sucker!
      Andy: What?
Barney: Look at all these deductions, and this tax! There's nothin' left for heaven's sakes! Barney sucker, that's who it oughta be made out to.
      Andy: Oh, Barney …
Barney: Yeah, that's me, Barney Sucker. It's open season on Barney. Come on, everybody, let's all take a bite outta Barney Fife.
      Andy: Now, come on!
Barney: Good ol' Barney, he makes it, he's got it, let's take it
Andy: Now, Barney, will you just simmer down. Now they're all legitimate government deductions. 'Sides, you know what they say, 'Can't take it with you".
Barney: Take it with me!? They keep nibblin' at me like this, I'll be lucky if I get to go myself!
