  • Opie gets his girl!

    8.5
This is a very well written episode, with great support from the very young Morgan Brittany. It's also very amusing to see Andy caught in his boy's romantic quest and taking such great pride in his boy's romances. There is a sweetness and gentleness to this episode that is impossible not to like!

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • This first episode of the final season focuses almost entirely on Opie, a pattern established in the very first season with "The New Housekeeper". Producers felt that Opie was the most relatable character of the series and would help bring in new viewers so they ran episodes that focused on Opie in the first episode of every single season.

  • NOTES (1)

    • In this season 8 opener we see Opie in class being taught my Miss Crump. Miss Crump would first become Opie's teacher in the third season, 1963 (in the episode "Andy Discovers America) when Opie would have been in the third grade. This means that Miss Crump has been Opie's teacher in the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades! Ineterstingly, in the season 5 episode "Three Wishes for Opie" Helen mentions being moved to the fifth grade, but no other explanation is ever given for her moving up in school with Opie.
