This episode is actually very well done--and the acting by Ronnie Howard is superb. I particularly liked the climax when Opie runs away from home because he fears he will not live up to his father's expectations. The exchange between father and son is very well acted and extremely well written. I also liked that Miss Crump shows up in this episode and we are beginning to see her as a series regular. The funniest scene in this episode is actually between Barney and Andy--when Barney proudly shows him a book that he has had since his school days--about history. He asserts he can remember everything. Listening to him try to recite the preamble of the American Constitution is definitely a series classic!
