  • Opie vs. Peggy

    9.0
This is a very good example of what the Andy Griffith show is all about--Opie is afraid that Peggy (Andy's new girlfriend) will take his place, and sets out to sabotage their relationship. It's well written, excellently acted and most of all it has a gentleness and a kindness to it that brings yet another smile to your lips. Joanna Moore is excellent as Andy's girlfriend, and even Aunt Bee is well utilized in the small role she plays in this episode. The star of the show is Opie--who shows us just how special this young actor was to become.moreless

  • QUOTES (1)

    • (Andy & Opie are fishing; Opie reels one in)
Opie: He's a good one, ain't he, pa?
Andy: Good? I believe never in history has anybody your size and weight landed a fish this big.
      Opie: You mean it, pa?
Andy: You know, if I didn't know better I would swear you was kin to Izaak Walton.
      Opie: Who's he?
Andy: Oh, when it comes to fishin' - he's the man that wrote the book.
Opie: I bet he wasn't better than you. I bet nobody was better than you.
Andy: Heh heh. I don't know. You remember Jonah? He caught hisself a whale.
Opie: I thought the whale swallowed him.
Andy: Well now, that's what I mean. When somebody catches a fish from the INSIDE... that's fishin'!
