  • Like Barney, Warren tries to find a way to "save" Otis. This time its through art.

    5.0
I think the whole problem with Jack Burns Warren character is that they tried to give him too much to do right away. Don Knotts was an awful hard guy to replace and the writers did Burns no favors in trying to give him scripts like this. In the episode Otis returns to Mayberry and when stopped by Warren before going to his cell, Otis states he comes to his cell every Friday and Saturday night. But Warren doesn't recognize him despite being there for months at this point. He doesn't even seem to KNOW about him. You'd think Andy might have given him a rundown on the regulars? Hal Smith is funny as Otis who has an invisible dog in this, but there's just no chemistry with Jack Burns.moreless
  • Like watching paint dry!

    3.1
This was an absolutely pointless episode, where Warren tries to get Otis into mosiacs in order to stop his drinking---this does not work however. Warren is at his most annoying here, and what could have been a very wonderful and warm episode is reduced to silliness. The script meanders and allows the actors little room to truly tell their tales or inject any real charm. One of the worst of the entire series.moreless
