(Opie's helping Thelma Lou bake brownies at her house; when Barney calls, Opie picks up the phone)
Barney: (thinks it's Thelma Lou) Hi, pussycat.
Opie: Oh, hi, Barney.
Barney: (annoyed) You still there, Ope? Let me speak to Thelma Lou.
Opie: (to Thelma Lou) He wants to speak to you.
Thelma Lou: Ask him what he wants.
Opie: What do you want, Barney?
Barney: Well, ask her if she wants to go for a little ride tonight.
Opie: You goin' ridin' tonight, Barney?
Barney: Ask her. Ask her.
Opie: (to Thelma Lou) Would you like to go for a ride tonight?
Thelma Lou: It might be fun. Where to?
Opie: Where to, Barn?
Barney: Well, nowhere in particular. Just around.
Opie: You mean around in circles?
Barney: Anywhere! The duck pond.
Opie: Why go to the duck pond at night? You won't be able to see the ducks.
(Thelma Lou, overhearing, is amused)
Barney: You shouldn't be doin' this. This is a person-to-person call. It's as bad as openin' somebody else's mail. Now let me speak to Thelma Lou!
Opie: (to Thelma Lou) He really wants to speak to you.
Thelma Lou: You're doin' fine. Ask him again WHY he wants to go to the duck pond.
Opie: Barney, why do you wanna go to the duck pond?
Barney: Oh, never mind. (hangs up)
