  • In this first episode of Series 1 of Sir Alan Sugar's 'The Apprentice: UK', we meet the 14 candidates and follow them as they compete in their first task.

    8.0
This was a very good first episode of this new UK series based on the American version which stars Donald Trump. It is Sir Alan Sugar, however, who is in charge of THIS boardroom and nobody is ever allowed to forget it.

Sir Alan, with a fortune worth over eight hundred million pounds, along with his trusted aides, Margaret Mountford and Nick Hewer, are forces to be reckoned with indeed.

The fourteen cadidates who are vying for the job of Sir Alan's apprentice are split into two teams - male and female. The women chose the team name "First Forte", whilst the men called themselves "Impact".

The first task given out by Sir Alan was for each team to be given a budget and then buy and sell flowers around London. The team with the most money at the end of the day would win, and, from the losing team, one member would get fired.

"Impact" immediately began door-to-door selling, whilst "First Forte" started off at the markets and then moved to 'street selling'. The project managers for this first task were 26-year-old Transport Manager, Timothy Campbell for the boys team and 34-year-old Saira Khan, a sales manager, in charge for the girls. Whilst Tim used a 'softly, softly' approach, Saira was very forthright and somewhat arguementative.

In the final analysis, "Impact" won, bringing back 865 pounds, with "First Forte" losing with 602 pounds. Along with product manager, Saira, she chose 30-year-old Restaurant Manager Adenike Ogundyin and 26-year-old Real Estate Agent Miranda Rose to go into the boardroom with her. The winning team won a trip to The London Eye as their treat for victory.

After much discussion, and Saira finding it very difficult to stop talking, Sir Alan deemed that it was Adenike who would be fired, leaving a field of 13 candidates going into episode two.moreless
