I guess N B C assumes that everyone watching the finale didn't see any of the other episodes, because this one started out with a ten (ten!) minute recap of the season, which was incredibly boring for faithful viewers. I was pissed off because they didn't show Audrey's "meltdown" but I was glad that the recap wasn't an entirely lost cause it pointed out the strengths and weaknesses of the two finalists, Tana and Kendra, so that people could make their decision on who they would hire if they were Donald Trump. Kendra was shown doing a lot of small things, and although Tana was shown doing two or three big things that could have contributed to her hiring, Kendra ultimately got the longer end of the stick, especially because the recap pointed out that Kendra's record was better than Tana's. Still, producers tried to smooth things over and try to make it "fair" by saying that Kendra's key business savvy and marketing skills and Tana's "can-do" attitude and negotiation skills make both women fierce contenders in the game.

And nowLive from the nyhu Skirball Center!!! The Apprentice Finale!!! Or as I like to call it, Law & Order: Donald Trump. Yeah, the "boardroom" was set up like a courtroom, with the past candidates in a jury-like booth, Tana and Kendra on the floor at small tables, and Donald Trump and his cronies presiding over everyone. Trump wastes no time with small talk and jumps right to the questions. He asks Tana more about her team and why she was so cruel, as well as about the American Flag. She apologizes to her team because she was a huge jackass, and then blames someone else for the flag mishap, where it wasn't there during the final task. And apparently American pride is sooooooooooo important to Mr. DT. Yup. Anyway, then he asks Kendra why she was cryingbusiness people don't cry, Kendra. She just said that she was getting emotional and crap like that. I don't really see the big deal with the crying thing. She didn't cry in the boardroom at least, like Sir Spaz-a-lot.

Then Trump turns to the "jury" to ask their opinions about who should win. Thankfully, he didn't have Regis Philbin come out and ask eighty people their opinionshe only asked a few people that actually deserve to have an opinion. Erin backs up Kendra, saying that "we (she, Michael, and Danny, Kendra's employees on the final task) weren't stooges (alluding to Tana's statements), we were valid employees." Chris agrees, and even though he was on Tana's team, he supports Kendra because he's pissed off at Tana's derogatory comments. Kristen doesn't really say her opinionshe just points out that it takes a lot for a person to humble themselves to an apology.

After another commercial break (the third, I believe), Trump introduces two projects that Tana and Kendra could work on if they were hired. Both are extremely feminine, and both really don't seem to entail a lot of work, especially taking into consideration the offers that Bill Rancic and Kelly Perdew were given in seasons one and two (Bill chose the Trump International Hotel in Chicago and Kelly ultimately chose the Trump Place buildings he's now working on marketing Trump Ice, the bottled water that teams sold in season one as well as the building of Trump Tower in Tampa.) The first choice of this season is to run the Miss Universe Pageant and the second is to renovate a $100 million home in Palm Beach County. Both don't seem that they'll last long the pageant will be once a year, probably about three months of planning, and when the home is done being built, that's it for whoever picks it. Both women don't seem to mind; Kendra reveals that she would choose the renovation project if she was hired, and Tana says that she would do the Miss Universe Pageant.

During one final round of questioning of the two candidates, the competition seems to get very, very ugly between Tana and Kendra. The brochure for the Pontiac Solstice is brought up, and Trump again dwells on the impression that the task made on him and his advisors he was surprised that she trudged on with the brochure even after her team members had gone home to bed. Tana reveals her side of the brochure, saying that she came up with the shape of it, which was a big selling point for the people at Pontiac Tana, anything could've beaten Bren, Alex, and Chris' idea. Trump agrees with her, and then Tana completely blows Kendra off, continuously chanting "It was the ShApE, baby! The sHaPe! It was the ShApE, baby!" It got really annoying after awhile and gave me the desire to drive to N Y C and dislocate Tana's jaw. Oh well. Didn't happenbut she didn't get hired either, so that's good.

Finally, after what seemed like two hours because of how boring it was, Trump asks his advisors, Carolyn and George, their picks on who to be hired. Carolyn offers her choice for Kendra, even though she didn't like that Kendra didn't step up to the plate to be Project Manager until everyone else had gone. George says that he likes Kendra's work ethic but not her quality of flying under the radar, and says that he likes Tana's optimistic spirit but not her obsession with bashing her team members (not literally.although that would be kinda cool to see Chris' head split in two places. Whatever, maybe it's just my sick fantasy).

Very Quickly, Donald Trump announces who is hired Kendra!!! the new winner of the $250,000-a-year job, the sexy Pontiac Solstice, and the title of The Apprentice. Her ability to work hard during crunch time (as well as Tana's slip-ups near the end) made her the better choice for the job, and as the show ends, DT announces some more things in store for the series a Broadway musical and the much-hyped spin-off, The Apprentice: Martha Stewart. I can't wait for that, Wednesdays at 8:00 next year on N B C. Yay, Martha! Okay, so here's me signing off after a long season of The Apprentice. Once again, I will be your guide next year (screw your conscience, that thing's done Nothing!) to make fun of the reality show contestants, and sometimes to make fun of Trump. But mostly to make fun of the contestants. Yeah.that's pretty sweet.

  • Notes

    ADD NOTES
    • Kendra is hired and Tana is fired in the climactic finale of Season Three of The Apprentice. Her hiring means that Book Smarts ultimately won the battle. Edit
    • Like in Season 2, the first fifteen minutes of the finale are used to recap the entire season. Even clips from unaired scenes are shown. However, unlike Season 2's finale, this episode has a recap centered around Kendra and Tana, detailing all of their accomplishments and failures. Edit
    • The two jobs to chose from are helping to set up the Miss Universe Pageant, and renovating a mansion in Florida. Trump received a lot of flak after this finale aired because of the pointlessness of the jobs – they seemed to further emphasize many of Trump's sexist characteristics. Edit
