Episode Summary

Eighteen new candidates meet up with Donald Trump in a New York City airport to be divided into teams and set out on their first mission. After preliminary details, the task, to market Sam's Club using massive blimps, is revealed. Allie leads her team, Synergy, to a close victory against Tarek's team, Gold Rush, which loses mostly because of his lack of a creative theme and Summer's ineptitude in marketing. Synergy is treated to a glimpse of life as a billionaire. Gold Rush, meanwhile, is sent to the boardroom. Tarek is nearly fired for his poor leadership, but for stupidly interrupting Trump when he is about to fire Tarek, simply to say something incredibly irrelevant, Summer is fired instead.moreless

'The Apprentice' is back on Oz TV, though only half a year behind the US (as usual!). Tarek's performance confirmed my belief that IQ (he is in MENSA) is not a scientific basis for measuring intelligence, and certainly not creativity! Their 'gift bag' was a huge mistake, so was interupting Trump in the board room, big mistake, way to go Summer (and did she go!). Allie's team, Synergy, showed much more energy and enthusiasm, hard to believe there was only 3 memberships between them. Classic moment, on the windy airstrip where Trump comments that it proves his hair is real (love when Letterman makes fun of Trump's hair).moreless

This openning was different in that we got to see more of the interior of Trump's plane. I thought the mix of applicants was interesting.. I am facinated by Brent and I hope we get to see more of his story before he is canned.

Once again we learned in the boardroom that less is more. Summer hust did not get the message to keep her moutn shut and she paid the price.

Terek is in a huge hole. I think he can recover but it will take lots of work.

I am not sure why the Blimps were used other then to give the show another item to plug.moreless

  • Could Tarek have been any stupider?

Okay now I'm not the brightests but I don't see how Tarek is in MENSA. He gave out empty gift bags, at least he shouldn't have called him gift bags. I don't know why Trump didn't fire him too, but summer was also stupid to interupt Trump when he was about to fire Tarek. I do like what Lenny said when Trump said...
Trump: She save you (to Tarek)
    Lenny: Not for long.moreless

What was Summer thinking, you do not interrupt Donald Trump. That just sealed her fate. I had a feeling that she was going to go. She did not do her job that she was assigned to do. This is an interesting group. I cannot pick out one person that stands out yet.

    ADD NOTES
    • International Air Dates: Norway: Thursday, June 19, 2008 on TVNorge. Edit
    • Trump now allows the Project Managers to pick one to three people to join them in the boardroom. Project Manager Tarek chooses to bring three people: Lenny, Lee, and Summer. Tarek is nearly fired for leading Gold Rush poorly, as well as for undeservedly bringing Lenny and Lee into the boardroom. However, Summer is fired instead for contributing only one thing to the task and failing at it, as well as interrupting Trump as he is attacking Tarek for his bad leadership. Edit
    • Project Manager exemptions have been removed from the rules. Thus, Allie does not get an exemption for her win as Project Manager. Edit

    ADD QUOTES
    • Allie: Brent has these professional idiosyncrasies, which makes me wonder why I picked him. But I appreciate his energy. And he's full of it. Full of energy, I mean. He's full of energy. Edit
    • Trump: (to Tarek) You didn't make it by much. I wanna tell you that, Tarek. She saved your ass. Tarek: Yes, sir. Trump: With her own stupidity, she saved your ass. Lenny: (Darkly) Not for long. Edit
    • Trump: (To Summer) How stupid is that? I'm getting ready to almost fire this guy for being a horrible leader, and you interrupt me. You did a lousy job... and you keep interrupting me and stopping me from doing it. And in the end, what Carolyn said is true. Summer, you're fired! Edit
