The Army Game

Show Summary

The Army Game was a popular UK comedy that ran for five series, from 1957 to 1961. The show centered on the soldiers of the Surplus Ordnance Department's Hut 29 based at Nether Hopping, Staffordshire, and their attempts to dodge their duties and have fun as they served out their compulsory National Service conscriptions. The show's characters and their catchphrases become very popular, and even resulted in a spin-off show, Bootsie and Snudge.

The Army Game had 155 episodes, plus another that was taped for Series 4 but never broadcast. Only about 50 of these are known to still exist; the rest were erased and are now considered lost episodes.
