An unusual episode, filmed entirely in the studio. No scenes in abandoned factories or empty roads (apart from a small bit at the end that clearly uses stand-ins). The budget was used to build a nice set, and what a set it is! The story, of course, doesn't make much sense, but who cares about that?

The episode stands out because Emma Peel's character is evolving into that icon we all remember. It appears she's quite the science enthusiast (with an exploding molecule as a piece of art) and has a quirky sense of humour, as the peephole in the shape of an eye proves. One of the silliest elements in the plot is that Emma has to put on a space-age suit, obviously an excuse to show off her curves. The dowdy Mrs Peel of the first episode is turning into a character that outshines Steed. After all, what does Steed do in this one? Charm his way into forbidden areas and hits people over the head with a steel bowler hat.moreless
  • A fellow agent to Steed stumbles onto a plot to take over the country and this all happens in a department store. Steed and Pretty Emma Peel must find out whats going to happen and stop it.moreless

This is ranked on my top 5 of the best Avengers episodes, ever. A very cleverly done episode which has one of the best fight scenes, from any episode. What makes this episode so good is its fantastic dialogue. Throughout the episode great quips between Emma and Steed happen at the store in which Emma works in the womens sleepwear department and later on, Emma wears an UNBELIVEABLE leather space outfit for the store. All the characters in the episode are so wonderfully fleshed out. We really get to know all of them from the kooky house dick to the mean manager of the store to the out of touch owner who comes up with the perfect plot to blow up the country. You cant get very much better than this classic. Tape it if you can.moreless
