  • The worst Backyardigans by far

I had high hopes for Mission to Mars - I love anything to do with astronauts and space exploration, but I felt Mission to Mars was well below par for The Backyardigans. It kinda felt like the whole episode was trying to fit into a more 'Hollywood' bigger budget mode - instead of the simplicity of the five friends and their imaginations we get the traditional Hollywood comic relief - in this case a 'lovable' Mars rover, and we see the big budget addition of Alicia Keys, who has the dubious honour of becoming the first ever adult featured on the show in a character role. The show felt a little 'taken hostage' by these unwanted additions and I felt the episode lost the innocence and humour that is its trade mark.

In short, I felt they were trying too hard. Fortunately it seems this episode was just a one-off aberration, as the other new episodes are just as good as those in the first season.moreless
  • I loved this episode

I loved this episode and thought the music was fantastic. this is my favorite one of all the episodes with Race Around the World being in second place. The music was great, the thought in it was good and compared to other Backyardigan episodes, this one definitely rates very high. I don't know why there was anyone who didn't like it. I also thought it was good that they had Alicia Keys in it, that made it good too to have a guest appearance. Keep up the good work and I look forward to watching lots more Backyardigans with my 1 year old daughter, she LOVES IT and so do I!moreless
  • No real Backyardigans fan could enjoy this episode!

Both my husband and my jaws dropped when "Mommy Martian" appeared. This episode disappointed us on many levels. The music was great and the actors were phenomenal as usual, but there was one thing really amiss. One of our favorite things about this show is how it's ONLY the kids and their imaginations. Why was Austin or Uniqua or any of them not the martian like in "The Yeti" or "Monster Detectives"? This was so disappointing. There was no need to introduce a whole new character when in the past they deemed it unnecessary. We own the whole first season on DVD, but if the rest of the season continues in the "Mission to Mars" venue, we will not be buying them. We hope, since the rest of the season hasn't been slated, that Nick Jr. approaches the rest of the episodes the way they did the first season.moreless
  • Pablo, Uniqua and Austin travel to Mars to check out a strange sound for Tyrone and Tasha back at Mission Control.

The new Backyardigans episode \"Mission To Mars\" is exactly why I watch the show with my 3-year old. Everyone is in the episode and it is a very imaginative story-telling of Uniqua, Pablo and Austin pretending to go to Mars to check out a strange sound. Tyrone and Tasha are at Mission Control. \"Mission To Mars\" was musically and visually entertaining and something my daughter will get up and dance to. This particular episode is exciting and funny. Very enjoyable. I am glad that they are putting out new episodes this fall. I look forward to seeing what other adventures the kids will go on. Very Boinga!moreless
