Here, we see the introduction of Robin's collapsable bo staff and bird-a-rangs, the latter of which were first created for his Teen Titans counterpart. Both here and in Teen Titans, the bird-a-rangs are a deliberate homage to the preferred weapon of the leader of Science Ninja Team Gatchaman Ken (in the Battle of the Planets, Mark). The homage continues in Robin's cape design including a split at the back similar to those of Gatchaman's bird-based heroes.
