The Beast Season 1 Episode 5

Raymond: Don't ever forget again who you work for.
Ellis: Oh, yeah? And who's that?
Raymond: Me.
Ellis: Alright. But you were wrong about Barker, from the beginning. I hope you realize that now.
Raymond: You're really going down that road again?
Ellis: The guy put it all on the line. Risked his life to do his job. We got her there, and we got screwed, but he still found a way to get the job done. So.. case closed.
Raymond: You're thinkin' too small. Listen, I'm okay that he bends the rules, crosses the line here and there sometimes, that's necessary. It's the big picture that I'm chasin'. The big picture that we're chasin'.

Barker: They just need to hear what you have to say. That's all that is important right now. There is something about the sound of somebody telling the truth... It's just different. That's all. Sometimes all people need is just to hear it.
Mrs. Nhung: Are you sure about that?
Barker: Absolutely not.

(After Ellis got beat up and shot in the arm)
Barker: You look like crap.
Ellis: This was my favorite jacket.

Barker: Do I look like I am for sale to you?
Man: Well you are an American.

Conrad: (on the phone) Well, it's not the worst thing in the world. Boys get in trouble. Yes, that includes copying someone else's homework, well, if you have to see the principle, then that's what we'll do. Yeah. I gotta go, Sweetie. I gotta go. Bye. (hangs up)
Barker: Taking a bite out of crime, are we?
Conrad: My kid, he's only 10 and already he's gone over to the dark side.
Barker: You know, I can't imagine the conversations that you must have with your wife.
Conrad: Oh, no? And how's your life?
Barker: Perfect.
Conrad: Oh, yeah?
Barker: Yeah. Wouldn't change a thing.

Mrs. Nhung: In the beginning all that man had to fight with was a sharpened stick. I'm answering a question that you haven't asked me. I'm telling you why I am doing all of this. Why I take the risk. You haven't asked, but the question is in your eyes.
Ellis: Alright, I'm listening.
Mrs. Nhung: At first there was the stick, then the sword, spear, bow and arrow, and then the gun. Then bombs, missiles. We keep inventing better ways to kill each other and now we can destroy the world many times over.

Barker: Now, in the meantime, we gotta get you somewhere safe...
Mrs. Nhung: That's what they said to me this morning.
Barker: ... Where we can protect you.
Mrs. Nhung: They said that to me too.
Barker: This morning was different.
Mrs. Nhung: What's different?
Barker: The difference is, it's us.
