The little opening skit was an interesting one for sure, quite funny, and was followed by a good and quick song that certainly didn’t seem easy to do. The Fred Scuttle skit was very funny, with some great exchanges between Benny and Nicholas Parsons before they bring out Chunky and things get extremely silly. I love it when Benny tells him to say two pronouns (Who Me?). Next a decent skit with Benny talking about a drinking trip that takes an interesting twist at the end, with loads of jokes you have to pay attention for. The news sketch is an extension of an idea we saw earlier where the video footage is out of sync with the headlines benny is reading. I love it when they have Muhammad Ali talkng with Benny saying it’s an MP addressing his constituents, althougn near the end there’s a little skit some may find racially offensive. Brilliant stuff overall though. This leads to a sketch entirely in letters , done before The Two Ronnies made this sketch formula famous, but I would say there’s was better than this one which wasn’t the best I’ve seen. The Great Pretender is next and this is an enjoyable sketch with singing and a well worked, short plot. We end with some bloopers, and the army skit in paticulair is classic Benny, with Bob Todd the army general getting his hat shot off and two ice creams in his face, but all of these bloopers are fantastic. Overall a very good episode, not among the greatest Benny’s done but there’s practically nothing that you will want to skip.moreless
