      • In the "Mr. Mayor" subsketch within "The South Blank Show" sketch, a U.S. flag with 50 stars is displayed on the wall. At the time of W.C. Fields' death in 1946, as well as the point at which the sketch was supposed to take place, the U.S. flag had 48 stars. Edit
      • At the beginning of the song by The Cotton Mill Boys, keyboardist Des Wilson mentions the Orange Blossom Special train running between Michigan and Arkansas. The Orange Blossom Special was actually a premier passenger train run by Seaboard Air Line from New York City down the Atlantic Coast to southern Florida, going nowhere near Michigan or Arkansas. Edit
      • This episode was taped on March 3, 1978. Edit
      • At the time of their appearance on this show, The Cotton Mill Boys consisted of (from left to right as they were positioned during their musical number:) Gerry Madigan (steel guitar/banjo), Tony Hughes (guitar), Bobby McGawley (bass), Gene Berrill (drums), Charlie Arkin (fiddle), Francie Lenehan (guitar) and Des Wilson (keyboards).
Their big musical number, "Orange Blossom Special," which spotlighted Charlie Arkin's fiddle playing, had been released as a single on the Irish-based Hawk label (cat. # HASP 396) in 1976 as the B-side to "Raining In My Heart," and the record made it to #2 on the Irish charts. Edit
