    • QUOTES (7)

      • (Robert learns that Elly is not in love with him, and realizes if he goes to the bank, he'll be in trouble)
Robert: Hey, would you like to drive?
        Elly: Well, is it alright?
Robert: Yeah. Maybe we won't make it.

      • (Robert is unsuccessfully giving Elly a driving lesson, and she says she is going to be the driver in the family because Jethro ran away in fear)
Elly: He's hidin' out cause he's scared of gettin' married.
Robert: He doesn't know what fear is.

      • (Elly notices how Robert's face is turning green)
Robert: The light is turning red. Can you tell the difference?
Elly: Course I can. You got a mustache.

      • Granny: Remember the sayin', "Marriages is made in Tennessee."
        Jed: That's "Heaven."
Granny: You've been there, have ya?
Jed: Granny, you are somethin' else.
Granny: I like you too Jed.

      • Jed: Say, uh, what happened to the truck the boy was drivin'?

      • (Drysdale tells Jed and Granny how he fixed Elly and Robert up)

        Drysdale: Union.
        Granny: You mean Confederacy!

    • NOTES (1)

      • The 1971 cancellation of the series resulted from CBS' desire to erase its image as a "rural network." In process, other rural shows ( "Green Acres," "Hee Haw," and "Mayberry R.F.D" ) were canceled as well.
