Our Hero the Banker
AIRED:
Lance Bradford has started working as Vice President at the Commerce Bank, though he really isn’t doing anything helpful. Everyone at the bank, except Drysdale, is excited to get Jet Stream working at the bank. Jethro sees how the girls at the bank react to Lance’s Air Force uniform and decides he wants that attention. So he goes out to get a Four Star General uniform. When Lance visits, needing a new account, Jethro tells him he’ll put his whole allowance in the bank if he sets him up with the girls. Lance tells his uncle he got the account of The Pride Of The Pentagon, making Drysdale happy, until he learns that it is only Jethro and only is getting fifty cents, causing Drysdale to cry what everyone thinks are tears of happiness.moreless

      • (Granny says that since Lance is related to Mrs. Drysdale, her meanness will be in him)
Jed: Your own grandfather was one of the orneriest cusses that ever roamed the hills. But did that make you mean?
        Granny: No.
        Jed: I wonder what did.

      • (Granny sneaks out to get revenge)
        Jed: Where ya goin' Granny?
Granny: Oh, uh, what'd you say Jed?
        Jed: Where ya goin'?
        Granny: Huntin'.
        Jed: Huntin'?
Granny: Yeah. There's a varmint in the neighborhood.
        Jed: What kind of varmint?
Granny: Mean, Jed, mean. Ugly too. Vicious thing.
        Jed: Sounds like a coyote.
Granny: She looks like one too.
        Jed: She?
        Granny: Uh, it's a female.
Jed: Do you aim to shoot her in a good dress?
        Granny: I don't care what she's wearing!

      • Lance: If he were in the Air Force, he'd be on the carpet
Mrs. Drysdale: Hear that Milburn? If you were in the Air Force, you'd be on the carpet.
        Drysdale: Yeah. I may join.

      • Lance: Just call me ViP COM BANK.
        Jane: What?
Lance: Vice President, Commerce Bank. He's Commander in Chief. I'm ViP, he's CiC.
Drysdale: And getting sicker by the minute.

      • Granny: My first present is a jar of my homemade pickled owl gizzards. And my second present is free medical treatment.
Lance: Thanks. They go together nicely.

      • Drysdale: Miss Hathaway!
(The washroom door opens, where Miss Jane is sitting at a desk, since Lance and his secretary occupy her and Drysdale's office)
        Jane: Yes Chief?
Drysdale: Come out of there. We're no longer sharing a washroom.

      • (Jethro is showing Granny his Four Star General's uniform)
Jethro: This uniform is a real girl grabber. I got a lot of fruit salad on my chest.
Granny: You always was a messy eater.

      • (Granny wants to go and shoot Mrs. Drysdale, and because of that, Jed took her glasses)
Granny: Hand me that gun Jed. I can still salt her britches!
        Jed: Nope.
Granny: I can't miss a target that big!

      • (Jethro gives Lance his present for him, which is for good luck)
        Lance: What's that?
Jethro: Oh, that's a buck eye, a rabbit foot, and a dried frog.
Lance: Uh, you eat it. I'm having eggs.

      • (Mr. and Mrs. Drysdale are discussing Lance's job at the bank)
Drysdale: Margaret, he's been in the Air Force for ten years and he's a Second Lieutenant.
Mrs. Drysdale: That's what I mean dear: right to the top.
