      • (Jethro is helping Ulla with her script, and Granny comes to the front door and over hears)
Jethro: (rehearsing Ulla's script) I have got a powerful hankerin' fer you mister.
        Ulla: Say it again.
Jethro: I got a powerful hankerin' fer you mister.
Granny: I told Jed that boy didn't know what sex he was opposite!

      • Ulla: All I want you to do is help me with this movie script.
Jethro: What do you want me to do, produce it or direct it?

      • (Jethro comes running into the kitchen, looking for Ulla)
Jethro: Where is she Uncle Jed?! Where is that sweet woman?!
        Granny: I'm right here boy!

      • (Jethro is going to cipher for Ulla, and Elly comes up behind Jethro, who is unaware his cousin is there)
Ulla: (to Elly) Let's go for a swim, shall we?
        Jethro: Okay!

      • Elly: Hey Jethro, wait till ya see the chores that Granny's got fer you to do!
Jethro: Oh yeah?! Well, you can tell Granny I'm runnin' off ta join the French Foreign Legion.
Elly: What's the French Foreign Legion?
Jethro: That's where ya go to forget a woman.
Elly: What woman do you wanna forget?
        Jethro: Granny!
Elly: Well, how come it makes ya forget?
Jethro: Cause you're out in the middle of the desert, fightin' and marchin' and getting tromped on by camels, and dyin' of thirst in the burnin' sand, whilst the sun scorches ya to a cinder.
Elly: Well how come you'd wanna go to a place like that.
Jethro: Like I told ya! Ta join the French Foreign Legion.
        Elly: But it sounds awful!
Jethro: Elly, I don't make the weather in France! Dumb old girl!

      • Jethro: Y'all treat me like I'm a kid! I'm a graduate of the sixth grade!

      • (Granny asks why Jethro went to the drug store)
Jed: Well, just between us, I think he's hopin' to meet up with some members of the opposite sex.
Granny: Jethro? He don't even know what sex he's opposite.
