The Boarder
AIRED:
Granny is having one of dreams fulfilled – she is managing her own boarding house. The Clampetts put out signs welcoming any incoming boarders and advertising what they offer. But when Drysdale and Jane drive up to the mansion, they see all the signs and take down most of them. This is also the same day that Mrs. Drysdale’s new butler Arthur Pinckney comes. He sees the remaining signs, which all are ”Welcome” signs, and figures this is the Drysdale home. He sees the Clampetts and thinks they are servants, and attempts to mold them into the perfect staff. Though, he has no luck. When Jane and Drysdale find out what is going on, they decide to let Pinckney remain with the Clampetts to mold them into society people.moreless

    FILTER BY TYPE

    • TRIVIA (1)

      • This is the third time someone has mistaken the Clampetts for servants. The first person was Miss Jane in episode 2, and the second was Ginny, the sociology student.

    • QUOTES (3)

      • (Pinckney has just met the Clampetts)
Pinckney: What an appalling domestic staff. America's answer to the Beatles, I suppose.

      • (Jed and Granny are talking about Pinkcney)
Granny: The only thing's his talk is a might hard to understand.
Jed: Oh, he's a foreigner alright. No doubt about that.
Granny: Likely from Chicago or someplace.

      • (Elly is showing Jed how Cousin Bessie the chimp and Little Arnie the dog play together)
Jed: You hadn't oughtta call that critter "cousin" Elly.
        Elly: Why not?
Jed: Well, you see, Jethro's your cousin, and that puts Jethro and her in the same . . . well, never mind. I reckon I just gotta get used to being a monkey's uncle.
