The Clampetts and the Dodgers

Season 1, Episode 29, Aired
EDIT

Episode Summary

Jed and Jethro are going to shoot golf with Drysdale and Leo Durocher, but Jed thinks that they'll be shooting some new type of critter that lives underground, flies, and is a real challenge to kill. Drysdale calls to cancel, so the Clampetts go ahead to the club to shoot golf. When they visit Mr. Durocher, he thinks they are caddies. He tries to ditch them, but the plan doesn't work, and Jed and Jethro catch up. After Jethro messes up Durocher's putt, he throws his golf ball in the tree, and Jethro ends up impressing him by knocking the ball out of the tree with a baseball. So Durocher visits the mansion to tell Jethro about the game and get him to sign a contract. He also tests Jethro's arm, but learns that he can only throw a ball that has been smeared with possum fat, which disappointments him. Elly tells him she can throw a ball just as well as Jethro without possum fat and proves it by throwing the ball so hard that it knocks Durocher in the pool.moreless

      • (Jethro is holding the golf clubs, thinking they are for killing golfs, while Jed is sitting with the empty golf bags) Jethro: These clubs is gettin' awful heavy. Jed: Ya know somethin' Jethro, we can tote them clubs in these bags. Jethro: I thought you said them bags was for totin' golfs. Jed: Until we get the golfs, we can tote the clubs in em. Edit
      • (Jed tells Granny and Elly that Jethro is going to be a baseball player after impressing Mr. Durocher on the golf course) Elly: Well, how ya play it, Pa? Jed: Well, far as I can figure, you hit one of them golf eggs stuck in the top of a tree, and then ya knock it out with this here baseball. Jethro: Yeah. And then if ya knock it down, you get to throw the baseball through a knothole. Edit
      • Granny: I'm gonna stay here and do something sensible. I'm gonna boil these golf eggs! Edit
