      • Jed: Do you mind explaining to me what a guru is?
Jethro: Well, a guru is one of them teachers over to India. They know all the secrets of the Far East. They teach ya how to meditate, go out of your mind.
Jed: I think you're gettin' the hang of that.

      • (Jethro is explaining what reaching the inner mind can help you do)
Jethro: You could handle cobras. You could sleep on a bed of nails. You could even walk barefoot through a bed of hot coals!
Jed: Lot of call for that, is there?

      • (Jethro is trying to explain to Jed what a guru is)
Jethro: Can you think of my head as a watermelon?
Jed: (nods head) Yeah, I think I can manage that,

      • (Granny plans to get the truth out of the guru with her moonshine)
        Granny: Nice day, ain't it.
Guru: Oh yes. Yes it is.
Granny: Shall we drink to that?
Guru: Oh, we gurus are abstainers.
Granny: This will take out stains.

      • (The Guru is about to try some of Granny's moonshine)
Guru: Well, we gurus, uh, should keep open minds.
Granny: Well, this will open minds, sinuses, pores.

      • Drysdale: If there's one thing I can't stand, it's greed!

      • (Jethro asks Jed if he can have money for a guru license)
Jed: Well, I'll tell ya what cha do boy. You go stand on your head a while, and I'll think it over.
Jethro: Alright Uncle Jed, but hurry, would ya?

      • Elly: Are you gonna learn Jethro to meditate and escape the flesh?
        Guru: I am.
        Elly: Could ya learn me?
Guru: Oh, you don't want to escape flesh like that.

      • Guru: Greetings, my Daughter.
Elly: Well, I ain't your daughter.
        Guru: Oh, how fortunate.

      • Guru: And now, you are ready.
        Mrs. Drysdale: I'm ready?
Guru: Yes, for the great pilgrimage.
        Mrs. Drysdale: You don't mean?!
        Guru: Yes my dear.
Mrs. Drysdale: Oh, Mother India, I'm coming! (Guru rolls his eyes) Your daughter returns, great Mother!
