      • (Jethro tells Jed Shorty is going to shine a flash light in his here to see his giant brain)
Jethro: Can't hardly blame him for wantin' to see what's inside this head.
Jed: True. I often wondered what's in there myself.

      • Jethro: I wasn't behind the doors when the brains was passed out.
Jed: I wonder if you was even in the room.

      • Shorty: You think you gonna make me crawl in front of her, you got another thing comin'.
        Drysdale: Let's go.
Shorty: What are you gonna do? Lock me in the vault? Beat me with a bag of nickels? You can't scare me Drysdale.
Drysdale: I'm turning you over to Elverna Bradshaw.
(Shorty drops to his knees, begging)
Shorty: No, no. Not that! Please! I promise, I'll never come back! I'll never bother ya again! Give me another chance! Please, no! Have mercy! I can't face it!

      • (Drysdale starts reading the words for a second rehearsal, even though instead of Shorty, the monkey is there)
Jane: Chief, don't you see who is handcuffed to the best man?
(They both look at Cousin Bessie)
Drysdale: Personally, I see very little difference.

      • (The clan is rehearsing the ceremony, and Granny asked to stay because the beautiful words make her cry)
Drysdale: Dearly beloved, we are gathered here to witness the joining together of this couple in happy wedlock. As I perform this ceremony, I'm struck by the thought that getting married is like opening a joint account at the Commerce Bank of Beverly Hills, where you're savings earn a full five percent and when . . .
Jane: Alright Chief that will do.
Drysdale: But, Granny wants to hear the words. They make her cry.
        Granny: Them don't.
Jane: They certainly make me unhappy.

      • Elverna: I appeal to you as a man.
Shorty: You don't even appeal to me as a woman.

      • Elverna: You keep talking that way and I might just call off our wedding.
        Shorty: Is that a promise?!

      • (Jethro enters, but instead of me cuffed together with Shorty, Cousin Bessie is at his side)
Granny: You let yourself get outsmarted!
        Jethro: Did Shorty outsmart me?
        Granny: No! The ape did!
Jethro: Well that's good. It's Shorty I gotta be careful of.

      • (Granny says that Shorty tried to get away from Jethro, but didn't make it after she caught him, and Jethro thinks he stopped him)
Jethro: See Uncle Jed, you got the giant brain on your side.
        Jed: I'm afraid so.

      • Shorty: You mean you ain't gonna put me back in the cage?
Jed: That's right. You're gonna practice with Elverna, saying "I do."
Shorty: Put me back in the cage.

      • (Jed tells Jane and Drysdale that Shad left because with him gone, the population dropped, and the town no longer qualified for government aid)
Jane: I wish we might have said "au revoir."
Drysdale: Two of the most beautiful words in our language.
Jane: Chief, "au revoir" is French.
Drysdale: I was talking about "government aid."

      • Shorty: I accuse this officer of police brutality and cruelty!
        Drysdale: What did she do?
Shorty: She won't do nothin'. That's what's so cruel.

      • (Shorty is tricking Jethro by telling him he wants to look at his brain)
Shorty: I can't wait to get a glimpse of that thing. It must be a monster brain!
Jethro: Oh yeah. Lots of folks that ain't seen it says I got the brain of a monster.

      • Jane: Granny, Mr. Clampett, what a pleasant surprise.
Drysdale: Welcome, welcome! We are honored by your presence.
Granny: Was we supposed to bring presents?
        Jed: I reckon so.
