The Big Bang Theory "The Fish Guts Displacement" Review: Playing Doctor

Straightforward stories and a noticeable lack of Penny/Leonard relationship drama made for a second straight week of awesomeness on The Big Bang Theory.

  • Episode Summary

Howard and Bernadette have a tense dinner with both of her parents. The subject of Mr. Rostenkowski's weekend fishing trip comes up and Howard is hooked into going with him. The guys visit Penny to learn all about fishing since she used to go with her dad. Sheldon shows up at Amy's apartment to find his girlfriend sick. After intitially rejecting her request, Sheldon stays to take care of Amy the way his mother took care of him, sometimes a bit initimately.moreless

Who was the Episode MVP ?

    • Recommendable episode

Next to the Parking Spot Escalation, this is one of my favorite episodes of the season. Both the main plot (Howard meeting Amy's parents) and the side plot (Sheldon taking care of Amy) were excellently done. The ending of the main plot was resonating and satisfying, while the ending of the side plot was laugh out loud hilarious. It wasn't an episode that profoundly affected the plot of the series, but it was a creative diversion that I liked a lot.moreless
    • Sheldon and Amy = entertainment

People if you don't find this funny then watch something a little more you're intellectual style like Barney and Friends this episode was great. Sheldon spanking Amy at the end was priceless. Good show BBT!
    • didn't find this funny at all.

I don't know why but i feel Chuck Laurie no longer knows what do in terms of the direction he wants the show to go in.
    • yawn yawn

Sheldon and Amy are boring as usual.
    • Penny... did that?

All I could look at is Kaley Cuoco (Penny) Holding the fish and slicing it. I would never do that, no matter how much someone paid me. That takes true dedication.

The episode as a whole is amazing and I definitely loved how much this episode added to the character development. Seeing more of Amy and Sheldon's relationship was also a great add on to the show.

However there were better episode, and hopefully better episodes to come!moreless

      • (Sheldon and Amy are sitting on a couch in her living room.)
Sheldon: Are you prepared to receive your punishment?
Amy: (nods approvingly) One second. I want to put on some music (takes a remote).
        Sheldon: Why?
Amy: I don't want to disturb the people next door while you discipline me (turns on R & B music).
Sheldon: (is surprised by the choice of the music) Very well, then (taps on his thighs) Get over my knee. Let's begin.
(Amy bends over Sheldon's thighs and Sheldon prepares his palm for spanking her butt. Then, he spanks her.)
        Amy: (happily) Oh, my.
Sheldon: (stops) Excuse me. You're not supposed to be enjoying this.
Amy: Then maybe you should spank me harder.
Sheldon: Maybe I will (spanks her harder).
        Amy: (happily) Ooh!

      • Mr. Rostenkowski: Do you know how to shoot craps?
Howard: No. I'm no stranger to dice games, though. I was the Temple Beth-El Hebrew School Yahtzee champion.
        Mr. Rostenkowski: (pauses) Mazel tov.
