It was so great a documentary that even though its been almost thirty five years since I last viewed it on the television, I can still recall the lyrics to the theme song. There were two theme songs, an old and a new version, and I recall both. That I think sums up the impact of the series. It was about children from different countries; about their lives, what excited them, how they spent their days, what their culture was all about. On the day the episodes were scheduled, I'd be sitting in front of my B&W tv waiting for BBM to begin. And when it began, I'd be transported to worlds I'd never known existed, seeing and learning new things I'd never imagined through the lives of children just like me. From being an Eskimo in the Arctic to wearing a Kimono in Japan. It all came alive. BBM planted the dream in my psyche to travel and see the world and thats what I'm doing today. I just wish that kids today could view this programme as many of us did thirty years ago.moreless
