The Big C Returns With Not-So-Good Good News

We can’t help but think the show is starting to stretch credulity just a bit.

  • Episode Summary

Dr. Sherman has some good news for Cathy while Paul tries to come to terms with his new life after his heart attack and Andrea comes home from her trip to Ghana where she learned to embrace her African heritage.

Well, this show can do a lot better. I am not saying it was bad, there was just something missing and I know exactly what it is - more wicked humor. Some of the dialogue felt sitcomish - maybe they hired some new writers? The same thing happened with Desperate Housewives 4 years ago, dark elements started to disappear and there was more and more sitcom elements to the show than ever before. But I hope it is just a temporary thing with the amazing "Big C" and that we will receive more "dark & twisted" comedy just like the last scene of this episode with drowning Cathy, what a nice literal methaphoric situation. Poor woman visits an Irish bar next to the hospital where she uses the name Alexis Bertrand just to escape her difficult situation at home. Paul survived his heart attack (cliffhanger from last season finale) and he is alive ... but more annyoingly whiny than he ever was. Andrea has this crappy new hairdo and a new name - Ababu which is the dumbest thing ever, but it kinda makes sense since she reported her fiancee to the immigration after he wanted to marry her for a green card (but I think he loved her, ok maybe just a little less than she loved him), Sean is dealing with his loneliness after Rebecca left him last season and Adam suddenly realized that life is more fragile than it looks and with his parents' health being shattered, one can never know. 7.0/10moreless
