  • Gorgeous Jill St. John

    9.5
    "Superb"
Several of the first season episodes focus on a female love interest for one of the Barkley boys, but none are as glamorous and gorgeous as Jill St. John in this episode. And what's interesting is that she is not playing a conventional love interest for Jarrod, and she's hardly redeemable. But something about her makes you want to root for her and for Jarrod to reach through to her and save her. It's too bad they didn't revisit this character in another episode, because I think there's a lot of unfinished business between the two of them. The episode also gives us some good action scenes with Nick and Heath (who goes undercover to rescue Nick). The costumes and the waterfront atmosphere are very good in this episode.moreless

    ADD TRIVIA
    • The brass bed in Barbara's room is a frequently used prop. With its gold and red paint, it's distinctive and easy to spot, and viewers will spot it lots of times in future episodes--in other saloon rooms, in hotel rooms, in farm houses, in the Barkley guest room, and even (though it hardly seems his style) in Heath's room in "The Lost Treasure."

      Edit
    • In the scene in which Jack forces the men to sign on board, Nick's hair goes from wildly unkempt after his fight to perfectly combed and slicked back from one camera shot to the next. Edit
