It's love at first glace for Nick Barclay when he spies Layle Johnson in town one day. From a comfortable distance, she bears a creepy likeness to Nick's sister Audra, both with her blond features and soft-spoken mannerisms. Too bad that he unknowingly met her estranged husband first.
The woman playing Nick's flame is pretty Leslie Parrish, known as Scotty's love interest in Star Trek's "Who Mourns for Adonis."
This episode is decent in its building of suspense, except for some awkward moments of Peter Breck's uncomfortable acting. Nick's gruff tenderness makes up for it, especially when he presents Layle with a puppy. All in all, an avergae, likable episode of The Big Valley.
